Summons to Witness

A week ago I got summoned to appear as a witness in trial for an accident last October.

I remember the accident clearly, so it is no problem.

Anyway long story short, this guy tried to beat a yellow (was behind me, and another car, and both of us were stopping), and proceeded on the right. He ended up slamming into the passenger side door of a car turning left to clear the intersection. If there was a passenger, he would have killed them.

What is bothering me is that all he was charged with was failing to stop at a red light. It really should have been careless or dangerous driving, and the guy is still fighting the mere two point charge!!!

Stupid moron, and now I have to go to court, take a full day off work, stay until the end, because the guy thinks he has a chance to beat this.

don't the courts compensate witnesses... or is that just juries...??

ahhhh jury duty I',m eligable ... but my father has never been picked lets hope I don't get picked ... my brother has .. but he got out of it...

yeah the dude in your story should have been charged with dangerous driving... he'll fight the red light charge sayihng the light was yellow....

they should paint a line on the road further back from the intersection.. ( a point of your able to stop) line where if your behind it when the light goes yellow then the yellow means stop if goes yellow before the line then it means finish going through with caution....

plus think of the jobs that would be created painting these lines

I was a witness to a pretty bad accident a few months ago as well, also caused by a bad driver. The police took my statement and all my info so I'm wondering if I will have to go to court as well. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
