Hi Guys

I have a court date set to fight a ticket for not displaying my front license plate. Just need to know if there's anything I should be prepared for when I go to court? I am not aware of the procedures, what I'll have to say, etc. Basically my front license plate had fallin off because on one side the bolts rusted through. I had the plate in my car and was planning on fixing it but I got pulled over before I got around to it. I have pictures of the rusted bolts still stuck in my bumper as well as a picture of my car with the license plater properly zip tied to the front of the vehicle. Not sure if this is good enough to get me off, but I'm hoping for atleast a reduction in the ticket.

What I need to know is, how exactly do I speak to the judge? Will they format it so I just have to answer qustions or do I really need to know my stuff here?

be prepared to pay the ticket haha...they just ask you if your plate was not affixed to the front of the car in a safe manner and u say "no" and then they may ask "why not" and then u can try and give them a "good enough" reason and hope they let u go...thats basically it

Fair enough, if I have to pay the ticket then its not biggie. but I work right around the corner from the court office, so its worth it for me to try not to pay the $110 Fine.

I paid one of those tickets .. my front plate had fallen off and I had filed the report and gotten new plates .. then I never put the front plate on I got lazy and got caught .. it's really just a stupid tax... I was stupid enough not to put my front plate on and I got taxed for $110 because of it.

I installed the plate the day I got the ticket... but thought there's no way to defend against this ticket I even posted here looking to see if anyone had any Ideas ....

I went into court this morning. You are right Gatherer there is no real defence to this, its either on or off your car at the time of your offence. Basically, you just have to hope the police officer doesn't show. In my case everyone got off but me, and the officer in question showed up just for me How nice. He was a good guy though. I didn't know you had to sign in with the Krown at the front of the court room before the trials begin. The officer was nice enough to let me after the first recess to sign in, plus he gave me some help since I was a noob. Basically told me I wouldn't get off but the charge would be reduced yada yada.


All in all its still worth it to atleast try to take your ticket to court. Worse comes to worse you'll pay a slight smaller fine.
