I mean if instead of 16km over he would have put 15 km over that would have had no demerit points associated with it.
Sorry to confuse you. Yes, in your case you can definitely get it dropped to no points. You might be able to get it down to a smaller fine too. If I were you I'd ask for 5 over and hope to get 10, tell them you need the money for school or something.

As long as there are no points taken away, your insurance will not be affected. Just the same as if it was a parking ticket, no front license plate or improper exhaust, etc.. etc..

if the ticket is reduced to ~16km/h over the limit you'll lose no points.
Not true. A speeding ticket is a moving violation. Your ins. will be affected.

OK, I guess I'll go to court and fight it. Not sure if I can play the "I need money for school" card b/c I'm already over 30, but I'm hoping that since this is my first moving violation the judge will go easy on me.

Do you think it's worthed going to one of those X-Copper places to have them represent me?

I know this thread has been inactive for a while, however, want to know how this points system works. One of my friends who works for a DUI lawyer, doesn’t care for it as he says that it can be manipulated easily, however, I always felt things the other way.

Hi everyone

When I was younger I got 2 tickets maybe 3 and my insurance never went up. Probably 2 tickets. I was with Belair Direct insurance company. I haven't got a ticket in years. I try to stay no more than 19 killimeters over at most to avoid it and I have. Td insurance I don't know about. And I don't think a first offense ticket especially only 30 over. Go to court and at least get the fine reduced to ease your pocket. If your insured under your parents I dought they would up your insurance. Because you stated you have a g2 license. Td insurance would drop you as a driver on the policy as a listed driver after at least 2 tickets within 3 years. Than it would be up to your parents if they let you drive your car. And there insurance would go up only if a claim was to happen. I'm not an insurance expert. I'm only saying what I know from experience. I have a class g license. And have been on my own insurance for over 17 years. Hope this helps if any. Good luck.
