speeding need some help

i was driving my crx down mohawk rd on night after i got my new shocks installed, i guess i was running it pretty hard redline 1st , 2nd grabbed 3rd and saw this car right behind me, well i moved into the curb lane and was gonna let him pass as i started to slow down, on goes the lights im like WTF??? it was a cop... ne ways he takes my license registration etc, comes back 2-3 mins later tells me he will b by my house later to summons me to court, im like ok.. he never told me the speed or reason i was being summons.. 58 days later im all happy hahaha i got away etc, i get a call at work the cop had just given the summons to my brother. court date is april 28th, what should i do?? i really dont want those 4 points, im 18 and pay enough for insurance already. another thing i always thought i had to recieve a ticket or something of that sort for this, the cop did not radar me and only followed me maybe for a few hundred metres.

man you must have been booking it to get a summons....

they don't have to radar you just trailing you is enough

hire a laywer and have fun paying him .. your going to pay out the *** for this either way ...either it's too a lawyer or it's to the courts and insurance and if your really unlucky you'll pay all 3...

anyways my advice seek a lawyer

take care....

Cool Relax!

Buddy, don't worry about it...at least not yet!

What you got is a summons, not a trial date.

Basically, show up on the 28th, get your actual court date and disclosure (sometimes) and be on your merry way.

At home, (if you were given the disclosure), go over the officer's notes and see if he made any mistakes.

If he did, and they are important, report back.

If not, request a "first attendance meeting" and see if they play ball, which they will, to reduce the charge. Or try for the hope-the-cop-forgets-to-come trick. If you try that trick, then plead down just before trial if he shows.

That's it!

................if he shows, grab your friend and throw him infront of the judge and get him to tell him/her that You ( the charged ) are away because of work/school/exam/holiday

and they'll re-set your trial to another date, by then, you can do this scam again hoping the cop wont show, or you could shop around for a good lawyer that will actually fight your case

go for the summons

thats just the day when they actually set your trial date IF you wish to proceed to trial.

otherwise you just plead guilty and pay the fine and accept the points that come along with it

ok, if i go there, say with a points representative, can it be reduced at all? or if i plead guilty im charged for the 90 in a 50 which is 4 points and prolly a hefty fine, im not to worried about the fine, but its the points i cant deal with, i pay to much for insurance now, im still in high school working 2 part time jobs to drive a old *** crx =\ all i need is to pay more for insurance :fustrated
thx again for your help

Your lucky he didn't catch you at 50kms over the speed limit, then it would of been wreckless driving which is 6 points.Go to points or X-copper you'll have to pay the lawyer and a hefty fine but it will save you some points.Best of luck
