There's "taking it like a man", and then there's "taking it in the ***"
everyone knows that when they mod their car that they're gonna get hassled...but to what point? it's getting worse, and that's why i brought up this topic, seeing if anyone has noticed less hassle if they still have there bodykit and flashy colours, but with a somewhat stock looking muffler
Just cause you rack up a load of tickets doesn't mean you're a tough guy, I give more respect to those who drive modded cars, but have been smart enough to avoid the hassle
it's about learning what the cops are looking for, and adjusting your style away from it.
and i'm not some young kid who just got his first ticket, don't worry i've got a load of them myself, otherwise i wouldn't be complaining about it...daddy doesn't pay for my ****, and i'm not driving a car insured by my parents, nor am I a "2ndary driver"
it takes money to go to school, money to pay for the insurance, all of your living expenses, and money to put fuel into that "modded" car that makes you the king...
so unless you have wide pockets...then you're gonna have to start avoiding the hassle, otherwise you're gonna be pushing your car from show to show

car moding is getting bigger every year. i was speeking to one of my supplyers in good old cali, and he was saying that 20% off there sales last year was in canada, the market is growing but the cops and insurance companys don't want it. look at it this way, you mod your car because u are tunner and enjoy it you are a MODIFIER. now look at the cars that street race, lowered cars modified power plants and very loud, what are they mostly missing. 80% off street racers don not have sterios sytems and most off these are cars run on temp plates because they can not certify or pass an e-test. the sterio type put out by the media, and police, and inssurance companys is, and car lowred with a performance miffler, graphics rims, any type of ungrade is a RACER. see u need to know where u should drive at the differnt times of the day. I have a pretty nice car and it gets attention, not by me makeing a point but just by people looking, no you have those idiouts that make it a point to make noise and say look at me. what we should as a club who does NOT suport street racing is throw a charity event with PACER and the local police and donate the money to a good cause. this will halp with a part of the problem, also it might open some peoples eyes and help them see the differnce. lets inform the media and news papers if we go through with this, mabe a cars wash or something like that.

I've sent an e-mail to PACER requesting their involvement with shows/track events, they never replied ... what better opportunity for them to just get out there and tell ppl to keep it safe.

I spoke to Matthew from pacer and he like the idea so we should start planning to do this and donate the money to PACER which is a non profit organization.

The easiest way to deal with this is to hassle the police every time they pull you over. This only works if you know that you've done nothing wrong (i.e. proper muffler, no bypassed emissions). I think as a public service to every modded civic driver, those with more "legal" mods should make the experience of a "police check" as frustrating and time wasting for the cop as possible. Don't let police look under your hood, ESPECIALLY if everything under there is legal. If they have to argue with you and waste their time for 20 minutes then they'll be less likely to pull over the next lowered civic. Oh and your last contact with any officer who has pulled you over should be to get their name and badge number. Write it down with your details of the stop including, most importantly, the timing. Then call the precinct and tell them about it. Question the cops ability to enforce the law and his time management skills. Imagine if I called your boss and told him that you'd been dicking around for 20 minutes without any productivity ( i.e. tickets ).

This could work especially well if you accumulated enough stops. Imagine being able to walk into court for a dumb ticket, like improper exhaust, and having a paper trail of police harassment that thecops themselves would have evidence of in their records of complaints. Or you could put all your chips in and try suing the police department for harassment, lol TCC class action suit.

you've got to be serious?????? for every "hard time" you give the cops they can and will dish it back out 100 times over... maybe it would waste there time but it would waste your time too ... treat cops in a friendly manner and they will be polite to you ... if you've done nothing wrong you gotsd nothing to hide be cooperative it's the best way to be left alone the next time the cop sees your car ....

For those of you who get B.S. tickets by cops. Post some pics of your ride. A picture says a thousand words.

I am very sure that there is somethng very common among these cars.

twinbros makes a good point... they obviously look for common elements amongst the cars they pull over.

but in some cases it's pure sheyyat, like for SilverSiG

i rawk the stock exhaust <-- never ONE word.

police (on bikes) circled my car in traffic once, I gave them a little nod... they thought I wasn't wearing my belt, but really I was strapped in with a harness. they never hassled me.

The next time they see my car they would remember the 10-20 minutes that they had to spend with an insufferable ***** at the side of the road without getting a ticket for their quota.
