Should I fight my speeding ticket??
 

I was going down bayview off the dvp today in the evening. The cop clocked me at 95 kmh in a 70 kmh zone. Since I had a clean record the cop reduced it to 75 kmh. I'm afraid my insurance will increase. Should I fight the ticket?

I supposed there is not points involve. Personally i wouldnt it fight as your seem guilty.

However there is a big waiting list for court appoinments in toronto. Its been almost 8 months of me waiting for a trial , some people have been waiting even longer than I.

I read somewhere some people will never even get a court day so you could try that i guess...

Personally if i was guilty and the cop already reduced the ticket for me i would just pay for it and learn my lesson..

In my case I get the dumbest tickets out there , i dont even speed , beat red lights , race , or do any of that and i get tickets :pout: (tints, sticker missing in my ownership)

Insurance doesn't really care for points. Let's say you were to get a ticket with points and went to court and got the points dropped. The ticket is still on your record and insurance will increase the same ammount. Now if you were to go to court, what would you say? You were doing over the speed limit, and unless the ticket gets thrown out if the cop doesn't show up, the judge can give you the original ticket or just laugh at you and dismiss the court session.

Tickets go by severity really.

20 or below usually has a certain effect on your premium, While 20 or above has an effect on your record of a greater calibre. REGARDLESS of points a speeding ticket will effect your insurance.

If you have plenty of free time to wait in lines, see a prosecutor, get a court date and/or deal with some of the city's useless employee's... then why not. You have nothing to lose. Don't know what your game plan would be tho, imo I would try to appeal to the prosecutor from the standpoint of having a clean driving record (until now), being a responsible driver, perhaps a young cash-strapped student (if applicable) and noting that the ticket was only issued for a petty 5-km-over offense.
