You must have been taught by the same high school teacher in the area near you, who after being pulled over a few years ago in front of his school and playing dumb to the "hand over your radar detector" demand from a local traffic cop, suddenly found himself out of his car and face-down on the pavement in front of his school, under arrest for obstruct police. And he lost the radar detector after being bodily searched for weapons.

The only good thing that came out of it was a conditional discharge for the obstruct charge, so his criminal record was cleared after he had served his year's probation.

After lawyers fees and fines, he would have been a lot better off just handing over the radar detector on first request. But no, he "knew his rights", or so he thought.

High school doesn't necessarily mean smart, either at the student or teacher end of things.

But you already know that from first hand experience, don't you?

Your friend got lucky. Others haven't been so lucky.

Are you really that willing to gamble on facing criminal charges for obstruct police over a radar detector?

You purchased this fourth one after you received a 50 over ticket, wouldn't slow down and "yes Sir I've learned my lesson" been the right thing to do then?

Your friend got lucky, but no one is saying you cannot gamble against the odds. Go ahead, plea not guilty and fight it if you wish. But every little evidence is against you at this point. Just ask yourself this: "what kind of excuse can I use in court or to tell my traffic law consultant?"

First timer? But you said this is your fourth one:

no need too bash...i knew there was a ticket i was prepared too pay...this is the fourth one iv owned first time i got caught though i didnt know there where points though i cant afford the points theres no option im gonna plea not guilty no matter what i just think it would help if anyone had any ideas of what too say that might help me get outta this...
And the fact you bought it after you got a speeding ticket says that you didn’t learn your lesson:

ok first off too get somthing straight i didnt have it soo i could speed the first few ibought i had for that reason but after i got my 50 over ticket i smartened up and having the radar detector was simply a novilty...but other then that im gonna go see if its possible for the people at "points" too do anything...
You took it off your window and hidden it, so you knew it wasn’t the “right” thing to do, or else you would have left in on the dash:

first off legally a cop cant search you enless he is either arresting you or has probal cause ie. you have a gun or drugs a radar detector isnt probable cause and would get trowen out of court iv seen it happen...but i decided too give it up why i dont know he seemed like he was going too just take it and let me go with a warning...and actually i did kinda laff as i pulled it outta my pants lol

that was pretty much the one reason i gave it up but i still think he was bluffing i think he just seen it in my window when i came over the hill...just didnt wanna take the chance...

And you wish to find a way to lessen your punishment because your friend got lucky:

You have pretty much described your case and put yourself in the corner by all the replies. Everything you replied and the action you did are all working agasint you.

The honest best way, pay the fine, accept the points let time washes it away. It will make you the bigger man at the end of the day, own up to your own actions, not trying to find ways to get around the system.

Good luck
