Want to explain to me why both my 29 over tickets showed up as minor while they were on my record? Same goes for my running red light ticket...

I also took Insurance before I got into computers, I know how things work too.

Where did they show up as minor?? On your MVR or on your underwriting statement?

OK, First off, Dovovan Insurance is not a company, its a broker .....so Perth and Kingsway are 2 insurance companies....Now, when you got your policy in the mail, it would include all the necessary applications and your MVR, which is a ministry tool, not an insurance one ..... so you were looking at how the MINISTRY rated those tickets, not how your company did .... An underwriter would never send an insured their statement

Edit: I was an auto and property underwriter for a year before I decided to go into claims ...

Donovan is my broker ya whatever I have group insurance with RIM who cares who my company is. All I know is that my tickets are rated as minor otherwise with my record I would be paying alot more then $200/month full coverage on a 98 civic.

Ok, you have group insurance with RIM ... and your wondering why you have cheaper insurance ? You realize when you have group insurance you get a discount, right?

Well, there are different underwriting rules in every company, and the point I was making that the 3 companies I have worked for all consider 16km/h or under a MINOR offence as far as speeding tickets ...

Any companies that don't follow the ministry and rate them as MAJOR = thieves.

It's heavily regulated in certain ways, but all these companies having different underwriting policies is wrong. You can go from one company to another and save thousands which is pretty stupid. Especially State Farm, worst ****ing company in the world.

You have to realize that some of the companies are US based (State Farm, Allstate) and they attempt to file the highest rate possible with the provincial government ... I do agree that there needs to be some consitancy within the industry, so many of the insurers drive up auto premiums because they don't want your business, they are forced to write auto insurance and would rather you went elsewhere because they can't make a dime off of it
