IS this quote true?

"jus pay it.....in insurances eyes it doesnt matter if you speed 5km/hr over or 48km/hr over....there both considered minor tickets"

i got that from another thread so i was wondering if that would be true? Reason for asking is i have my first ticket(not convicted yet) and it is 40 over? is that a minor? i thought that was major?

Yes and No

A Ticket is a ticket.
So no matter how severe or how minor, if you get a ticket, its on your record.

However each tickets carries its own individual penalties, eg. fines, demerit points...

my advice, file for a first appearance...
find out what they offer you, then fight it.

5km/hr over = barely any fine and 0 points and cops will mostly never pull you over for it

48km/hr over = hefty fine and I believe 4 points slapped onto your record = way worse

Anything over 16km/h is usually charged for ... It depends on the underwriter who is revising your policy or renewal ...some companies have strict guidelines, and some have lose ones .... If you have more than one, you will usually see a rate increase ...

Your insurance shouldn't go WAY up for a minor speeding ticket .... I have a horrible record and my insurance went up $5 a month with 3 speeding tickets ... all depends on the underwriter ... Talk to your broker if your having concerns

40 over is not minor .... anything over 16km/h is considered a chargeable offence and you likely will be charged for it ... by how much is anyone's guess

Is your ticket under 16 km/h of the speed limit? The answer is no, so then the next logical thought is, my insurance company will NOT see this as a minor offence since its over 16km/h of the speed limit. If it gets on your record, they will likely charge for it

Actually, it is a minor ticket. Major tickets are things like carless driving, wreckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and other criminal offences that are worth 6 points or more. 40+ might be major because of the speed, but generally regular speeding tickets are minor offenses.

Its not a minor speeding ticket, and that is what i was referring to. I minor speeding ticket is under 16 km/h over the speed limit.

Insurance man you are wrong in this case i think that it is more than 16 km/h for a minor, it goes up to like 30=40 km/h over and it is still considered a minor. I ALWAYS FIGHT EVERYTHING anyways cause insurace is a scam and they can do whatever they want anyways so wether you have a ticket or not insurance can still rape you if they want.

I love how you say I'm wrong, and then say "you think" ...lol... I am saying in the companies eyes everything over 16km/h is a major ticket,... In other words, it will be charged for no matter what ... where as if it is under 16 km/h its at the companies discrection ....

They rape you? And its a scam? Maybe once you spell insurance right you'll be able to debate it's worth ...lol...

You are wrong, under 16km is 0 points but over 16 is still a minor ticket. Major tickets like I said involve some crazy speeding and/or criminal actions.

LOL ... I am not wrong ... you are still thinking about the ministry, I am talking about insurance companies .... I could care less about "points" ... his question was about a insurance company rating his speeding ticket, not the ministry

Unless you can get the ticket reduced below 16 km/h over .... and like I said earlier, it all depends on the underwriter ... speak to you broker ONCE you have fought the ticket
