Question Question About Going to Court

Recently got a ticket for failing to display both plates. To make a long story short I had the plate on with zip ties until one broke, so instead of letting it hang there I took it off so that I could install it another day. Between those two days I got the ticket, told the officer what had happened and he gave em a ticket. Anyway I was wondering whether or not it makes a difference if I go to trial and "Plead Guilty with an Explanation" or Just "Go to trial" The back of the ticket has both options.

Just wanted to know, if I choose to plead guilty with an explanation and the cop doesn't show do I still have to pay a fine? Or does that only apply if I choose just to go to trial? The officer gave me the indication that if I take it to trial he won't show.

Thanks guys, this is my first ticket so I am not really sure.

Go to court, you have nothing to loose, even if he shows up.

alright.. WHen I call do I have to tell them right away which option I am choosing? Whether it be to plead guilty with an explanation, or go to trial? Either way I am going to Court just not sure of the procedure.

You have to go see them in person to make a court date.

dont plead guilty, tell them your plate had fallen off and you were out driving so you needed to wait until you got home to install it, accidents happen.

I got a ticket in July. The court case wasn't till February of this year!

It might be awhile.
