Pulled over for plate cover

Pulled over for plate cover
I know this has been posted before..but I just want to vent. The *** cop made me take it off on the road, otherwise, i'd get a ticket. He took his flashlight and pointed it to my plate, and said 'see....you can't see the #'s when the light is shining on it'. The thing is though, I could see them perfectly clear. Anyhow, I just read the HTA, regarding plates, and it is vague. It doesn't say anywhere that plate covers specifically are illegal. So, i've put them back on. I figure the odds of running into the same guy again, are slim, considering i was stopped in a different city, from where I live.
Anyhow..I just wanted to vent. Hope everyone's enjoying their Labour Day
Cheers

aslong as the plate covering does not in any way hinder the plate its okay. the ones sold at the ministry are made of a plastic that doesnt modify the plate in anyway when looked upon in different angles thats why its okay to use those. i have seen some clear ones that when looking at from angles takes away the plate numbers view properly etc causing it to be illegal because it is modifying its original look of the plate.

The ones I have, are from Performance Improvements, they are round on the edges and a fog/grey colour. I've seen lots of people with them, and when I purchased them from PI, they told me they were perfectly legal. I've looked at them from all different angles and I can read the plate just fine.
Younes Si... you have a nice ride!!!

the ones from the ministry even if you were to shine a light on it it wouldnt make it glare and unreadable. the plastic on it is a bit shaded compared to a crystal clear one. it will appear clear but it has something done to it in order for it to not shine when light hits it. i believe its got a matte type finish.

that would be the cops fault in that situation and if you did recieve the ticket it wouldnt hold up in court. and if the cop showed up to court you can make him feel stupid and even possibly get the judge to yell at the cop for it.
allyou would have to provide is a reciept from the mto for the item. and take a picture of the poster that is displayed at the mto saying it is legal and that they are selling it. on the poster i believe it says that its 407 safe etc..

because anybody can get blamed for something and they will have to prove otherwise but the person that got blamed for it doesnt get any type of compensation for it because on the ticket it says "I (name of officer) believe/feel that (name of person being charged) has committed......"
**** cops.

I got pulled over once 5 years ago when I was stupid.. I had smoked covers along with a specialized plate that you couldn't read the numbers from an angle or above to prevent red light tickets and ETR charges Anyway I got pulled over, and of course the cop is going to notice something that obvious. He pulls me out of the car to show me. I played dumb since I just bought the car and told him I bought it like that. Anyway he knew something was fishy with the plate cover and tried to take it off.. The guy pulled and literally shattered the plate cover. Then he just left it and said.. "Get that fixed and if I see you with that again I am giving you a ticket"
