pulled over again

just wanted to express my disgust with the police again this week I was pulled over and harrased about two things only having one windshield wiper and having a shaved trunk even though I still have a license on the back and a light to light it up I am sick of bull**** tickets and the harrasment I receive seems like it all started when I got my civic I have a probe also done up and I have never gotten one ticket. I have I think about 6 now with the civic and I have owned it since april. why do old cars never get tickets like classic cars I always get pulled over foro my muffler being to loud and my uncle drives an old car like 67 or some **** and he never gets pulled over its twice as loud as mine anyways just wanted to get this off my chest I am pissed and will be selling my civic because of the harrasment. there must be something we can do?

One of the things I hate about driving a Civic, is the harrassment from the public and law enforcement.

Why would you want 1 windshield wiper? All this mod does is take one arm off, rotate the passenger side wiper arm to a certain degree so it wipes evenly but still, it is only swinging at around 110 degree, not a complete 180 which makes it dangerous, if you can make it swing a complete 180, then it will hide nicely under the vent and I guarantee you won't get hassle.

Why? Because the cops won't see it at a quick glance. Anything that is obviously at a quick glance will attract attention immediately.

Regarding shaved trunk, do you still have the recessed hand grabbing part where it used to be? I think not, right? There is a reason why each and every car that came out of the factory has this part designed so you can open the trunk as long as it is not locked (either push the key hole, or use the handle). When you temper with safety features on the car, or taken away part of it, be prepared to receive tickets or being questioned.

Congratulation, you have just got yourself an attention seeker.

the guy I bought it off of did the mod I would like it better if it had two. just thought it was a bull**** ticket was all. yeah its has no keyhole have to pop it from inside kind of a pain in the ***, so will the car not pass a safety with a shaved trunk? or the one windsheild blade?

I don't want to give you false info but I don't think this is a good idea. If you don't like shaved trunk and the wiper arm thing, get them switched back to OEM. But if you are selling the car, you can always sell it the way it is and as long as the buyer is aware of the condition of the car, it will become his/her problem.

you dont get harassed because you drive a civic.. you get harassed because you drive a car with useless attention grabbing modifications.. there is a reason why you have a car like that.. its for attention, and congratulations, it looks like its working.. you get more attention than you care for.

It is not against the law. But I am not sure if modified single wiper and shaved trunk are considered "nice". The law is not after people who driver certain type of vehicle, the law is after people who have done things to their car that can cause potential problems further down the road. The key word is potential, and they want to prevent accidents from happening. Therefore, by giving you a ticket, they hope you can learn the lesson and correct these mistakes so the chances of accidents happening can be cut to the minimum.

Say in the winter time, or better, in a heavy raining summer night, your single wiper can only cover so much area and only cleans half of driver side window, and you can't see jack. You hit someone from behind, you will be facing charges way more severe than a simple hit - because you have tempered with a safety feature. Don't tell the judge/police the car came like this. You bought the car cause you liked it. There are 100,000 other running Civics on the road, it didn't have to be this one.

Well for the sake of getting off these specific tickets, I would go to court and say that the car came like that. If you want to get off guaranteed all you would have to do is show some proof that you didn't do that to the car and also fix the problems before you show up in court. Just claim ignorance and show them that you comply with the "law" now, whether it's actually a law or not. That way the judge will most likely just let you go. Actually the cop and prosecutor might drop the charges depending on how you interacted with them.

Nothing personal, but there is absolutely ZERO truth to the comments made above.

1. There is no such thing as a "guarantee" when it comes to the Justice system;

2. It does not make a difference whether or not the illegal modification was performed by you or not ... the only difference that fixing the problems prior to the court date would make is maybe a reduction in the fine; and

3. Ignorance is not, I repeat, IS NOT a defence! Compliance after the fact does not count for very much. Do you think that the Prosecutor is going to withdraw the charges because you decided to obey the rules AFTER you got caught? I hate to break it to you, but that's not the way that Provincial Offences Court (or any Court, for that matter) works.

I hope I have shed some light on the situation.

In a best case scenario, the OIC does not attend court and the Prosecution does not request and have granted, an adjournment. Worst comes to worst, the Prosecutor offers you a deal of Pleading guilty to one and withdrawing the other (assuming there are two Certificates of Offence) ... and you are ALWAYS entitled to make submissions as to the fine (i.e. you're a student OR you are unemployed OR you support your sick one-legged grandmother, etc.).

Good luck and let us know how things go

If single wipers are such a bad idea, why do Mercedes have them? My thought is that they give a clearer path of vision cause you don't have the second wiper overlapping the path of the first one. But this is coming from someone who has never driven a single wiper car, so what do I know

2nd wiper is there to wipe down the left over of the 1st wiper, if you haven't noticed that. Benz's single wiper wipes a complete 180 degrees, which I have already mentioned in this thread earlier. So when the wiper is in stationary position, it is hidden and no visible in front of you. You don't see a big stick sticking up.

What the stupid idoits do is to rotate the arm base so it wipes a fan shape across the window, but not a complete full 180, if not, only 110 degrees, and that only cleans half of the driver side, AND, passenger side. So in the way, this mod is dangerous cause you just can't see ****. And the best part is, when the wiper is off, it stays on your windshield! BOOYA! It obstructs your view.

Stupid? Hell ya. Deserves a ticket? For sure.
