pulled over
Anybody else get yanked over by the coppers this weekend?
I was cruzin home with my girl close to 2 in the am after kickin it in the t-dot and passed a shell gas station off of hwy 7 in woodbridge. There was like 4 coppers with other cars pulled over and they all had there hoods up. there was also three more cops sitting in the very next entrance just chilin. Now hwy 7 is a long three lane strip and there's a lot action if you're looking for it. I won't comment on any 4 - 5 year old stories in fear of getting this locked so we'll just move along. So as we pass I guess the cops noticed us trying to see what was going on in the gas station and as soon as few cars passed by they quickly turned out and began to follow. I wasn't fret'n or anything like that cuz it's all legit now. So we got held up at the next red light and sure enough one's staring at me in my rear view and the other is running the plates. The light turns green and their lights turn red! So technically I should have pulled right over but I'm no stranger to the game. I drove about 15 yards to the first entrance into the fortino's lot and then moved along another 5 yards to park parralel (sp) to the entrance. The whole time the cops kept chirping the annoying horn thing as if I hadn't seen their bright lights flashing behind me. Now the only reason I didn't pull over right away is becasue you never know if you're gonna get a ***** or a nice guy. Shopping mall or any other public entrance, (ie mini mart gas stations, ect, ect), equall private property which equalls they can't touch your car. They can still ticket you but they can't tow your car. Anyway, they both get out and approach our car one on each side. "Good evening Sir, License and registration please." "Looks like a decent car you have here." I reply thanks and advised him it's not done yet as full lip kit and light upgrade still needs to be installed as well as 1 1/2 in drop. Parts are just collecting dust in my garage. Officer reply's with a slight chuckle and says ain't that always the case.
(Now if any of you have seen my car it's pretty clean and stock looking on the ouside except for clear corners.)
So the other officer, after checking my girl out with his flashlight through the window, asks me to pop the hood. The officer with me advises the pulled us over cause they heard the exhaust and noise from the engine. (Now yes I have a zigen fireball cat back, short arm intake and d15b vtec but the noise was beyond minimal as i was strictly just cruizing by when we saw them.) So as i make chit chat with the one cop about this must have something to do with the lastest "race related" accidents he admits yes and says it's all part of a profiling thing their are doing to any and all cars that seem to be sup'd up .
(Ah-ya! you bastard, the truth comes out)
It's all good I tell him and we began to talk about the old "pace" program they had and how it failed. All the while we are talking i watch the other cop work his way around my engine. His guy seemed more fascinated with my alarm siren thing then anything. everything else was a quick flash of the light and then back the siren thing. he didn't know what he was doing or what he was looking for but tried his hardest to make it seem like he did. So finally the cop by my window ask the other one if everything "checked out" and he replys "looks right" and shuts the hood. He then asks me to start the car back up and rev the engine while in neutral. he proceeds to the back and stands near the exhaust with the flash light on it. I gave it like no tomorrow and i even got a little excited and sent it to red line by accident. The cop with me said it sounded "nice". Ofcourse i said thanks. The other one said "that's fine"
So the copper gives me back my papers and wishes us a good night. Off we go after I gracefully and generously rev the engine before engaging letting out the clutch. while in first and second gear I still proceed to drive normally unlike others that seem to think they must be super light on the gas in order not to make any noise.
Proceedure took about 10 minutes and unfortunately i forget the name of their new program but all in all it was cool. so again i was just wondering if anybody else had the pleasure of this.
sorry for making it so long !
happy motoring!
Oh, since my B-Day was in may my sticker was expired. i forgot to get a new one which i will do on lunch today. They advised they won't ticket me for it but that i should get it done fast especially since i'm in the woodbridge area. they also said it takes about 2-3 times before their systym is full loaded and they know exactly what your packing so to speak. In other words one could get pulled over 2-3 times before their system shows them exactly what's under your hood etc.

peter, what do you mean! are you saying that i didn't have to pop my hood. if so, it doesn't matter cause these guys were being cool and i know i had nothing to hide. We as motorist do have some extend to invasion of privacy but if an officer has reasonable cause they can make you open your hood. If you choose not to then it'll only make it worse for you.

i've been pulled over looked over, everything passed inpection and let on my way...race suspension, cold air intake, magnaflow exhaust w/ resonator...generally if you're curtious and everything is in spec you're good to go...I've never been harassed tho, in any of my civic/crx ever ever ever weather at local hang outs, track events, car shows or whatever

Sure you could say no to opening your hood, but that would just give them a reason to hassle you more. They could call an MTO Inspector and seize your car.

if the cops are professional and reasonable, they're only doing their job. Assuming you don't have anything illegal, you should always co-operate.
I used to get hassled a fair bit.. I found as I got older they stopped bugging me.. they used to harrass some of my friends, but that's a different story.
usually your attitude and demeanor will go a long way with an officer.
I don't like 'cops', but I don't judge any individual officer. It's like any group, you may not agree with the values of the majority, you may feel ways for the stereotype of that group, but you shouldn't assume all of them are all like.
Good that you didn't get any BS tickets!

hey nova, yes that's correct, east of pine valley and west of weston. we took qew to 427 to hwy7 and then cruised east till we hit ansley grove and then hooked a left. Are you from around this area or do you just frequent this area. if you're close then we should arrange a meet for everyone in this area sometime. i remeber some people posted pics of a little meet they had outside of taste of japan or whatever, i saw those guys then i was driving by. i had to go drop off a video at block busted but we were in too much of a rush to intrude on their little party.

oh , i doubt they could tell i had a swap out cause the one guy seemed clueless to what he was doing. even if i had kept the origanl red valve cover it came with he still prolly wouldn't have realized. And in regards to having past inspections. wasaga beach was the worst as i had my isuzu i-mark more or less ripped about and violated. Way too much ish done to it and under the hood. that's a whole other story though and i don't care to write about it right now.

They can if you refuse to permit inspection of the vehicle. The HTA requires you to submit the vehicle to such inspection as the cop feels is appropriate, andthere is no wiggle room for you to work wwith in that part of the law.

It would be nice if the police would just fess up and agree that they are doing profiling. In this case its obvious of what they are doing, but yet I never hear them admit to this during media press conferences. What I am wondering is.. what exactly are they looking for that is illegal? NOS, Breathers.... A turbo setup isn't illegal now is it?
