Police Harassment!! My Story!
 

So I was pulled over last week, for (as most of you guessed) nothing, but I am curious to know if you all have any police stories of being treated unfair????

and I have had enough also. I am tired of being labelled, threatened, confined and stripped of my freedom. If I wanted a police city I would live in russia or china, Not canada.

and I've decided to start my own Thread. I would like you all to post your cop stories. I've started with mine.

6:43 on a friday exiting north off of the 410, I realize a police cruiser is signaling me to pull over. I proceed to pull over on the shoulder of the 410 exit.

The police officer approaches my vehicle and immediately says, “you were going 130km/h.” Being 6:43 on a friday, there was still some left over congestion on the highway and not only was I not doing anything over 90 (being that I was exiting), it was also impossible to do 130 when there were multiple cars infront of me. I told the Police Officer that that speed limit was impossible and I was not.

He took my license and insurance and returned eight minutes later asking me to step out of my vehicle. We are still on the highway exit ramp–not the safest place to be walking around I imagine.

As I exit the vehicle (My father’s 1995 ford mustang) The officer questions me about tire residue around my rear bumper. I replied that it was just residue from a cleaning gel and regular tire shred that is expected from a rear wheel drive car and tires on their last miles.

The officer continues by asking me if I’ve been racing, concluding with my tires are as bald as his head. I told him I haven’t been, the car is not mine it’s my fathers and the tires are old. He asked me whether my father knows I have the car. I continued to patiently reply to all these pointless questions as he continues asking me questions about drugs and where I’ve been doing brake stands to ruin the tires.

45 minutes later he hands me back my insurance and insurance and says “here you go speed racer, when I catch you doing brake stands I’m impounding your car and taking your license”

I was pulled over for nothing. Harassed for 45 minutes about nonsense, and insulted in the end for him wasting my time. And for the record, I have no traffic violation or accident in my seven years of driving. Nor did I ever do brake stands in my dads baby of a car.

I get pulled over at least once a month, but cant say I'v ever been harassed like you guys have.

if you have done nothing wrong, just humour them and let them ask whatever they wanna ask and insinuate what they wish

Yeah I do not think I can live with humoring some cop. What about you guys? Never been pulled over for profiling? or "suspected" speeding? No stories?

i can totally sympathize with you guys. personally i love driving and i don't get to bed very early, and being in a small town this makes for a terrible combination. i have been pulled over around 20-25 times in the last few years for everything from a random "spot check" to "incomplete stops", basically any excuse they could think of. i've been harassed that i was on drugs, to selling drugs and firearms (The drugs being very offensive because i am against that, the firearms being retarded). Now, i can say that some cops have come to know me now so they don't touch me anymore, but the fact is when im out driving around to cool down or relax, its annoying, offensive, and totally ridiculous to pull me over when i have done nothing wrong besides not have a bed time of 9pm. I'm with all you guys that have been harassed for being alive and on the road. Advice I can give: I just sit back and laugh now. Listen to my music and drink my coffee while they try so hard to find something to get me with. They're just wasting their time trying to make quota.

2 years ago, got stopped in front of my house after the cop followed me for couple of blocks, he goes "I stopped you because of speeding and you made an illegal lane change in the middle of an intersection"

I had done none ( I knew he was right on my tail so was driving very carefully), so I told him off and he got aggressive. called 911, said I'm being abused by a police officer, his supervisor showed up along with 2 other cop cars, ended up with a ticket for improper muffler another ticket for unnecessary noise.

There are good officers out there, but power-tripping exists in every line of work. I was once power-tripped by a mall security on the golf-cart. To this day, I still think it was one weird incident.

I probably get pulled over once a month for driving a lowered SiR. Im 24 now and I dont speed or do anything stupid cause I know I'll get caught right away.

I was pulled over a couple weeks ago, by some bitch cop who must have been on her rag cause she just yelled at me for 15mins. Im to the point that I dont like driving as much as I use to cause Im always afraid of getting pulled over for no reason.

Once I save some money, Im buying a new car cause its not worth the stress.

Let him do his thing and let him have his power trip. Then afterwards file a complaint to their internal Professional Conduct unit (usually the cops hated that division because the division work in the best interest of the people), so he can get question by his own people and ask the police to issue a formal apology.

Cops always think that regular civilian doesnt know the law so they try to use it against them. That happens everywhere.

MrX, arent you in your driveway? If so, technically they cant do anything to you because it is private property (any lawyers out there?).

Dont they need a warrant, just like all the other cop shows.....in order to make arrest or serve charges at your property?

I wasn't in my driveway, stopped beside the street, but no I don't think thats the case, someone I know got charged with DUI because he was trying to move a car in his driveway to clear their guests cars.

I didn't read everyone replies, but MANY arrest warrants, drug and gun seizures have been made from officers stopping random cars. Maybe this guy was really being a d!ck, maybe he was trying to see if you'd slip up on something and he'd bust you. I don't know, I wasn't there. Sure, some of them might be jerks, or had a bad day etc. If you have a real complaint, write a letter to the department and request a response from the supervisor.

If you break the law and they see you they don't need a warrant to come on your property. Else you could just zip home and laugh from your front porch.
