Parking Ticket

Parking Ticket
K so tonight i got a parking ticket for "park (prohibited area/location) without a permit. Now there are no signs that indicate needing a permit to park in the area and also the only signs around list mon-fri parking hours, nothing for saturday/sunday. I was parked on the side of a street and there was a bunch of other cars around that didnt have tickets (may have come after the ticket was given).
Should I fight the ticket because i think its BS and that i didnt do anything wrong? I have pictures of the signs aswell.

Well it's always excellent to learn what you did wrong, and if u didn't do anything wrong it's a bonus..just attend a parking authority office or something and go right to the clerk or call in or something and ask if parking is allowed between these times? on this street, why or why not. . don't say u got a ticket, see what she/he says....then ask for the name......go in and say hey...well i parked here got a ticket, this person said i shouldn't have and here are pictures of all the signs....no clear indications. . blah blah. . blah etc. .
and the person will be like.....okay tickets gone...goodbye. . lol

i got one of those.. went as far as a court date. you basically have to prove that your car was not there at the time of offence to get off. picture evidence does not cout for much either, unless you have other proof that the pictures are of what you claim they are of.
after some discussions from the prosecutor i agreed to plead guilty with representation, and got my 60 dollar fine reduced to 10. it was worth it just on principle

so even with picture proof that there are no signs indicating the need for a permit to park in that location it will be hard to get the ticket dropped?
Like there are 0 signs that say parking by permit only and nothing that states no parking on weekends.
illest thanks for the phone numbers, i will give them a call and see what they say cause this is really a BS ticket

Let me guess.. you got the ticket after midnight?
Those 12:01am parking signs aren't always put up with the other parking rules for streets. They get put up by themselves and they apply to a large stretch of the street. Basically if there was one of them anywhere on the street you were parked on, you're guilty.

It wouldn't even matter if there were no signs at all on the street.
On every road leading into Toronto, there are signs posting, besides the welcome to Toronto bit, the ordinary speed limits and parking restrictions that apply to all Toronto streets "unless otherwise posted".
Parking on any street is limited to three hours maximum unless posted otherwise.

So you looked for tickets on other cars and didn't see any.
Did you look for street-parking permits IN those cars? They override the 3-hour limit.
What street was it and in what borough?

here is the way parking tickets work, this was told to me by a judge in court: the ticket you have received is deemed to be valid, the ONLY way you can get it dropped is if you prove that your vehicle was not parked there at all at the said time. anything else gets the ticket reduced... but hey, that was only the judge telling me this..
also picture proof is irrelevant, as you have no way of proving that the pictures are of the spot. you would need notorized photos to do that.

so even if i had a pic of the signs with the number of the house on the street that is listed on the ticket it is worth nothing to prove i didnt do anything wrong? Sounds like a bunch of BS to me, toronto parking enforcement are **** suckers.

So many whine about being a victim. Few accept responsibility for their acts, be they acts of commission or acts of omission.
And it's not BS. You did do wrong as far as the parking regs are concerned.
The whole length of Manning from Dupont to Queen is overnight permit parking. Signs are clearly posted every 50 to 100 meters, and at the start and end of each block. Come 12:01 am, if you don't have a permit, you get a ticket.
Also, it's not just Manning. Almost all of the residential streets in that area are overnight permit parking. Permit parking is has been common for a very long time on the older streets of Toronto where most houses do not have driveways.
If you want to whine about it, target the people responsible - Toronto politicians. Lashing out at the parking cops who are simply doing their jobs is just totally immature on your part, and it speaks more of you than it does of them.
