Thanks for the help, I got it rescheduled to 2 days before. But it got me thinking, a ticket is a ticket in the eyes of insurance. Should I just see what I can get with the first attendance meeting and then if its not worthwhile take it to trial and hire an X-copper? What do you guys think. Its my first offence and I dont really want to be paying for it through insurance for ever. Does the prosecutor in first attendance have the right to completly throw out the ticket or is that just in a trial.
Any ideas???

At a first attendance the prosecutor can drop the ticket one level of speeding. The levels are 0-15, 16-29, 30-49 ( to the best of my knowledge ). You can drop a bracket but they won't let you off completely. Those ticket fighters are expensive too, cost me 350 to get a pointts guy for a 31 over.
Basically if the Justice of the Peace doesn't show up you get off ( unlikely but it happened to me one time ). If you want to settle for a lower offence ( only the 15 and under is worth it ) then you go to the JP with the prosecutor and the cop and settle the charge. If the cop isn't there, you get off.
Failing that take it to trial. The one thing I learned from hiring the pointts guy is that if its over a year between your trial date and your ticket then you might be able to get it thrown out since its not a reasonable time. You can augment this by saying you don't recall getting the ticket it was so long ago. To pull this off though you might want to get the ticket guy since there was affidavits and copies sent to the Justice Minister and other crazy stuff like that. You can also reschedule your court date close to the time, tell them you have an exam or something, the new date may not be a busy one for the cop so he might not show ( this happened with me as well ). Last ditch effort is going to the prosecutor before the trial and asking to get let off with a lower offence ( same as first attendance ), but don't do this if the cop isn't there.
