Need some help... experienced speeders :) plz read!

Ok.... going to cottage on thanksgiving in the moms car .... stock 4dr honda accord lol..... going around 130-140 on the 115 highway, over the hill..... speedtrap didnt slow down soon enough get motioned over to the side. Cop gives me a ticket for going 142 in a posted 100km zone set fine total of 317.00 and 4 points.

Now..... the money I do not even care about... that isn't my concern. What im concerned about are my points. As it stands, I have no points on my record so now im at 4.

I already pay an arm and a leg for insurance, and im having troubles with insurance finding a new spot.

what I need to know is.... how successful can I be in either going to points or going to court to fight the ticket. I want to try and get my points reduced to anything under 4.... i dont know how much my insurance will go up but Im assuming its a lot!

the situation was possibly to my advantage as I was going over the hill there were a few cars cause it was busy.... 2 of them got pulled over at the same time as me .... so maybe I can argue I dont believe the radar detected my speed and possibly the one of the car in front of my cause there was a car not too far ahead as well.

another thing is do you think the cop will even show up since I was pulled over on the 115 about 20-30min away from whitby where I live..... he might not have been from my area.

im not sure what to do.... but you guys always seem to be able to help!!

thanx in advance.

OH...... another thing .... Im about to switch insurance companies this week.... will the ticket be sent to them right away or am I safe to go to the new insurance and they wont see it that i've gotten it yet.... cause dosent it have to be finalized or something???

I went to points and they helped me a lot. I got to keep my license.
I beleive you are innocent until proven guilty, therefore the ticket should not be reported until after you pay or after a court date.

your insurance company most likely won't get it any time soon, your probably won't get a court date til febuary or march then after that its about 6-12 months before it even goes on your record

Jeff can you elaborate on how points helped you... i.e. how much they charge, what their policy was (win or lose), gurantees or anything, what they do for you...

you guys are great..... I know I can always turn to TCC for answers!

i dont think the ticket will show up with your insurance company yet because you can still fight it in court. but since you got the ticket near whitby, you probably wont have to wait as long to get a court date since they arent as backed up as Toronto.

POINTTS

Since this is your first ticket, it'll be reduced tremendously, just make sure it is mentioned!

Insurance will USUALLY let you off on your first ticket, IF its 50km/h below the posted speed limit...

G'luck on your choice

Points was $450. I told them I just neede to keep my license and I did, so they fullfilled my demands.
You might want to try Xcopper, they have a we win or it is free policy.

"We win or it's free" policy is garbage...........a "win" is considered a reduced charge, or not having your license suspended, which is always guaranteed if you just attend yourself 95% of the time

ooh, i would say anywhere from 200-450 for your ticket depending on your representative

Fight it for sure and dont worry you will be fine. Your insurance wont do nothing. Everyone gets tickets, and they allow 3 offences before it gets ugly.

im gonna take it to court i think and represent myself...

what should I plea though? guilty? guilty with an explanation? not guilty?

I just want it to 3 points the fine im not worried about, just the insurance will ruin me if its 4 I know it!

im gonna say i was going over the hill and there was a car in front of me that may have been clocked at the same speed, however I was travelling at around 120km... should i do that? like admit I was wrong and say im a student having a hard time paying for it?cause thats what will happen with the insurance problem

thanx again for the info
