need some help... 35 over ticket :S

Hey... I just got a ticket a few days ago for doing 85 in a 50 zone. This was on bayview just south of Steels. The entire road is 60 except for that little part.

Anyway, it was past 2 am in the morning and I was passing some car so I sped up a bit.

Ticket is $260 and 4 points... didn't reduce anything on the spot.

I already have 3 points on my record, I really need some help with this.
Should I plead guilty and hope for a reduction or should I go to court and fight this?

I don't really care about the fine too much right now, just want those points gone

Thanks!

the points don't ****ing matter. well they do if you have your g2. but for insurance purposes. they only look at the ticket.

here is what i keep hearing about.

pay the ticket but send a check for 300 so then they send u a check back with the extra money......dont cash this check....if you dont cash it the transaction will not complete and points will not be put on to your record........i keep hearing about this anyone else hear this?

Why don't you test out that theory yourself before you go out and suggest it to others.

Of course, you'll first need to qualify for a traffic ticket involving demerit points.....

I heard that myth too, I was going to try it on one of my tickets but I don't want to risk it. I think it goes by if it is a major or minor offense. I think that is a major so 25% increase for 3 years depending on your class of license, I'm pretty sure of. You can try to fight it, but they might just leave it at that, but if you do fight it and you might get it lowered. I paid coppers to fight it.

Oh yah, I forgot to add, the points are for MTO purposes. If gain more points than you are allowed, the government re evaluates your license and they decide if you should have a license or not, if that made sense.

A cut & paste from

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/demerit.htm

Demerit Points and Fully Licensed Drivers

* As a fully licensed driver, if you get six demerit points, you will be sent a warning letter.

* At nine points, you may have to go to an interview to discuss your record and give reasons why your licence should not be suspended. If you don't attend, your licence may be suspended.

* At 15 or more points, your licence will be suspended for 30 days from the date you surrender it to the Ministry of Transportation for the first suspension. You can lose your licence for up to two years if you fail to surrender your licence. A driver's licence may be surrendered at any Driver & Vehicle Licence Issuing Office, Ministry of Transportation Queen's Park Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office, or mailed to:

Ministry of Transportation
Driver Improvement Office
Building A, Main Floor
2680 Keele Street
Downsview, ON M3M 3E6

* DriveTest centres do not accept surrendered licences for suspension purposes.

* After the suspension you may be required to complete a driver re-examination (vision, knowledge and road tests), the number of points on your record will be reduced to seven. Any extra points could again bring you to the interview level. If you reach 15 points again, your licence will be suspended for six months.
