NEED HELP! Should I use X-Copper?

Hi,

I recently got a ticket for doing 170km/h on the QEW. I'm not going to try justifying going that fast, it was a stupid choice, and I now I'm paying for it.

I have a court date for May 3rd, in St. Catherine's.

Has anyone here used any of those ex-police officer services to overturn or reduce a traffic/speeding violation? If you have, and you had a good experience, please list the contact info for the person who helped you.

Also, I was headed eastbound, but on the ticket, the officer wrote that I was driving westbound. Does anyone know if this mistake warrants throwing out the ticket altogether?

They are all rip offs. You can do the same job that they will do for you and you don't have to spend your $. I think that they can throw it out of court for mistakes. Go to court and see what they say because you can also make a deal with the officer if it doesn't get thrown out.

The cop can clarify the eastbound/westbound deal on the stand. Given the configuration of the QEW, it won't be something the ticket will be thrown out on.

With respect to making a deal with the cop or the Crown, I wouldn't count on getting much sympathy on this one. It's not like you were just a little over the limit. Doing 170 on the QEW could have netted you a careless driving or dangerous driving charge as well.

I wouldn't worry too much about it though. The worst that can happen is a $700 plus fine ($9 per km over, plus court fee, plus victim surcharge), plus up to a year driver's license suspension, plus the 25% insurance surcharge that will follow for the next 3 years after you get your license back, assuming you don't have any other convictions on your record.

Are you good at math? Have you figured it out yet?

Of course, your insurance company may drop you over this, which means you may have to find insurance from Facility. They cover the high risk drivers that other insurance companies don't want to touch, and Facility rates are higher to reflect the added risk of this market. Plus, the surcharge for the next 3 years still applies even on the Facility rates.

Aw what the hell, you didn't crash and kill anyone, and the thrill was worth it, right?

I used one of these points guy years ago. I was doing about 170 on the 410, and the RCMP officer issued a summons to go to court. I paid that *** $200.00..and all he did was walk in... and walk out. Cop was a no-show. Ever since I refuse. Your best bet, is to take it to court....and ask for leniency(excuse my spelling). Before that though, you may want to make a 1st attendants meeting and see what sort of deal they will work out with you. But don't waste your money on those losers. Make sure when you go to court you are presentable and polite, and make your best puppy dog look!!!

I used the Pointts guy in St.Catharines. I was going double the speed limit through the Thorold Tunnel on Hwy.58, they had a speed trap at the top, laser pointing down into the tunnel. Anyways, I went to the Pointts and this is the outcome:

Police Wanted:
4 demerrit points
30 day suspension w/ insurance company finding out
$1000 fine

Pointts Got Me:
O demerrit points
30 day suspension wo/ insurance company finding out
$450 fine
$450 fee

So, you can make your own conclusion. BTW, this happened about 3 years ago.

Is there a set fine on the ticket? Or is it a summons to appear?

man, you guys gotta learn not to drive so damn fast :-| Its no wonder all the cops ride our asses... look at the example you're setting and the message you're sending to the cops. we're all idiots and we all drive like ********. any car can do 170... what were you trying to accomplish exactly. My stock Civic can do 190... but what's the point?? i hope you guys pay big time for it...

Then you were already given a huge gift, and you have already got away with it. The fine for speeding 50 km and more over the limit is $9 per km and loss of license for up to a year. You work out the math and figure out how big a giftthat cop gave you. Oh yeah, don't forget the 6 points plus 20% or so victim surcharge that gets imposed over and above all that.

Don't be greedy. Take your lumps and just pay the ticket.

If you still choose to fight it, the cop will get up on the stand and say how fast you were really going, and that he lowered the ticket on his discretion. There is legal precedent to support the judge amending the charges in court to convict you for the original speed.

Even if the judge doesn't do that, you will look incredibly bad for challenging the speeding ticket after that cop's huge gift to you, and the judge can up that $145 to something much higher even without changing the speeding charge.

You can fight it...but if you were going 170km\hr...the officers notes will be based on that speed. I can guarantee your ACTUAL speed will be put forth in court,. Like Motti said...you were given a gift if your ticket was only $145. 50+ km\hr over the speed limit should of got you a summons to court. Good luck, ure gonna need it...

points and these places say no fee unless we win. well to them, knocking your speed down is winning, so they bill you. if they get it reduced to 165km/h, they've won so you pay the fine and all that bull**** plus their fee's.

anyways, **** happens, not the end of the world. speeding is speeding, many people do 150 and then get on here and say, oh its bad, now your paying for it....**** that, we all speed, just some aren't as lucky as others thats all.

wish ya luck man, hope the cop is no show.
