My Car Towed!
downtown T.O., 3:45 PM
15 minutes late, run to car, GONE!
car was towed, paid 98 dollars to get it back + a 20 dollar parking ticket!
front fiberglass bumper is cracked, you ask why i didnt inspect? i did, but it wasnt till i drove to talk to a Parking enforcer that i noticed the front bumper had a loonie sized HOLE (Black bumper, hard to notice a hole on black asphalt), can i do anything ??
or just cause i got my car towed, i deserve to have this **** happen to me?

No you dont deserve to have your car damaged like that!
Unfortunately the problem is you'll have a tough time convincing the towing company (and possibly the judge) that it was them who caused the damage because you already drove your car off the lot.
This is exactly why i'm always paranoid about having my car towed. It's not the expenses that's the problem but 9 times out of 10 the towing will cause some kind of damage to your car.

Did you know that when your car gets towed, you don't have to pay anything to get it back? Appearantly a lot of people think there's a fee to get your car back, well, there isn't. These towing companys know that a lot of people don't know that law, so they go ahead and charge whatever it is they charge. If they say no, you can't have your car back until you pay, all you gotta do is tell them you're gonna call the cops.

From what I have been told, you don't have to pay on the spot, but it is recommended that you do, unless you are planning on fighting the ticket on your windshield. That way you go to court and hopefully get your ticket thrown out....if it does, then you don't pay the towing charge.
If you pay and fight the ticket, and win, you have to go to small claims court to get the money back from the towing company....and well, that will take time.
Keep in mind, if you don't win the case (in scenario 1), then you have to pay the towing charge and any interest charges from the time of day to present (which in today's court system is about 6 months to a year).....

i've always wondered.......
what do they do if you leave your car in 1st gear and put the parking break up?
will they tow it anyways and kill your parking break? and if it does cause damage what can you do about it?

The best way to park...
The best way to park...
to prevent someone from towing your car,
but also to helps as a theft deterant...
Park your car in gear (1st for uphill, R for downhill)
Park as close to the curb and as close to the spot in front.
Crank your steering wheel as much as possible so it faces the curb; Make sure your steering lock is engaged after you remove your key.
Hand brake up.
Its supposedly a little harder to tow or steal a car from this position, (knock on wood)

yeah, i checked that place out, and they make dam good money those towing company's!
i mean, its not only 5 min away where they store the car, they charge 100 bucks, with that money, i can tow my car from mississauga to toronto...
in a span of 8-10 minutes, i saw atleast 5 tow trucks, loaded and ready to roll!
If by any means your car gets towed while parked, and if there is no PARKING TICKET, they had no right to tow you car, just keep bitching at them till they release your car, because they had no right in the first place
