My bro needs help, doesnt know what to do

Last year my brother got a drive with no insurance ticket when he got caught moving his car from our garage down the street to my buddys shop (not even 3 blocks away). Anyway he was found guilty and given 12 months to pay it, he didnt pay anything because he could not afford it in any way and was off of work due to his leg being broken. Also couldnt get a loan or borrow money. so the time has come for the ticket to be paid etc and he filed fopr an extension to pay it and was denied, so now whats gonna happen and whats he suppose to do?

50 days in jail might just about satisfy the unpaid fine.

I take it he's not driving at the present time ?

Could be. Also, as soon as his fine goes into default, his driver's license could be suspended indefinately until the fine is satisfied.

honestly i think the stupid cops should be more leanient(typo) on stuff like this i swear. the gov. is bieng too cheap how the freak do u expect someone to pay 5000. its BS .. and 5000 is a big amount.
what's funny is that my cuzin got away with driving a car without insurance last summer

he recently got his teg, he got a 10 day permit and no insurance on it. he assumed u didnt have to.
he gets pulled over the cop is like u dont have insurance .. he was ****tin in his pants he said he didnt know and crap Cop said but still no insurance!! ..
so he makes up a story that he is on his way to become a cop dont know what u call that.. anyways he says he wants to become a cop and he met some head constable in downtown " u must know his" and says a couple of names. legally u r not allowed to ticket a cop... the cop says " i dont wanna ruin ur career so i wont give u a ticket but ur suppose to get insurance" he should have made somthin up liek that .. well hope he get around this somehow 50 days in jail or 5 grand????

You know, if he had put something down on the fine over the last year, even the equivalent of just a few cases of beer, it would have indicated that he was attempting to pay. That would have tipped the scales into his getting an extension to pay the rest.

His best bet - get some money now, $1000 would be good, pay that on the amount owing to show good faith. Then ask again for an extension.

Honestly, everyone knows the rules, I dont think the gov. is being cheap, because if some guy with no insurance hit me or anyone in my family, they would be even more sorry. Insurance is there for a reason, protection against the drivers and others.

I think if he had paid anything on it in the last year it would of been smart, really they are probably just going to throw him in for 90 days... thats usually what that type of ticket is worth.

Good Luck!

A simple accident with no injuries can easily lead to tens of thousands of dollars in financial damage.

A simple accident with even a single personal injury or death can lead to hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial harm plus the human costs involved.

A serious accident involving personal injury or death can lead to millions of dollars of financial harm plus the human costs involved.

The resulting costs to society are huge even as they are, never mind the additional cost burden that results when a driver is uninsured.

The fine has to provide a deterrent to driving without insurance.

It's like parking tickets - who the hell is going to pay $20 for parking when they know the penalty for parking illegally will only be $20, assuming you are even caught?

If insurance for a particularly risky driver is $5,000, then the fine for driving without insurance must be AT LEAST that to deter a person from going without insurance.

Your brother got caught. He could have done it right - either by get insurance or by getting a tow truck. He tried to get away with at he knew was wrong and he got caught. Now he's paying a penalty for having got caught, and that penalty is perfectly legitimate given the potential for harm that he could have caused.

I for one am sick of having my insurance premiums inflated to cover the costs of uninsured scofflaw drivers.

I believe on the back on an insurance slip it says how much you can be fined for not having insurance and up to # amount of days!

I know someone who went to jail for 3 months less a day for not having insurance and he got a the same fine. so it has been heard of
