The Toronto City bylaw referred to in the other thread was struck down one or two years ago. The presiding judge ruled that property owners could issue parking "tickets" demanding payment from users who parked their vehicles on private property without authorization.

The "ticket" you received is not aparking ticket per se, but an invoice demanding payment for your vehicle's use of their private property. Courts have upheld the validity of these demands for payment.

If you refuse to pay, they can send a collection agency after you, and that in turn could lead to you being sued for payment. They can also submit a negative non-payment report against you to credit reporting agencies.

As a result, your credit rating can take a hit just the same as if you were taken to collections because you refused to pay a credit card bill. The parking "ticket" is probably worth peanuts compared to the effect that a negative credit report could have on your borrowing costs and even your ability to get credit in the future.

You did the deed. You parked on someone else's property without their permission. There's nothing unethical for the owner of that property to bill you for having done so. Now maybe you should own up to it.
