meeting with prosecutor
i got a speeding ticket on hwy69 40 km past barrie.. 135 in a 100 zone. filed for a trial since i wont let them take my money without a fight and an actual conviction.
i get a letter from the provincial court of justice-district of muskoka with the following line:
"the prosecutor has scheduled a meeting with you at XX:XXam on XX/XX/XX where the matter MAY be worked out, avoiding the need to go to trial"
I have a squeaky clean record so far.. the cop didnt reduce anyting on the spot..
has anyone ever been to such a meeting? what should i expect?

I did hear in Whitby. What they did was discuss your case and were willing to reduce the cost of the ticket. To make a long story short, my ticket got reduced and no points. Went into court right after the meeting and basically pleaded guilty to the lessor charge.

all this meeting does is you do what you would do in court, but they ask this of you because of they do take anything to court it just cost them more money to deal with you bascially and if you do go and talk to him and your still not satisfied, you can take it to court anyways, but your not guaranteed that you will get what he offered you in court..because remember now your fighting against him and he's fight against you...so he dont' wanna lose anymore then you do, it's it's gonna be hard...oh ya, usually you lose with speeding tickets, unless the cop doesin't show,

35 over is 4 points.
The prosecutor will agree to 16-29 over and 3 points based on my experience with the process. It's not really that great a deal, you should ask for no points and if they won't agree schedule a court date. You can get the one stage reduction on the day of the trial if they will still offer it plus the "no show cop" gamble as well.
