lawyer vs cop - speeding ticket

hey guys

had to go to court for a minor speeding ticket 70 in a 50 zone and wittness a cop get shalacked by a lawyer and thought i should share this with you guys to give you some ideas in what to say in court if your thinking of fighting a ticket

this cop felt so dumb after the lawyer was done with him

good questions that lawyer asked that just left the cop saying nothing

"can you prove or do you know 100% that the radar gun was funcuniting at 100% and that there was nothing wrong with the gun?"

"what km range was the gun set"

"shooting the radar gun from the side or front or at an angle - do u know if that will change the rate of speed the gun shows for the moving car - and if it does show that the sppeds are off by 1 or 2 mph - doesnt that show radar guns arent 100% accurate"

honestly watching this lawyer rape the cop was the best feeling - since i drive a honda and get pulled over and raped with dumb *** tickets like every month - was nice to watch

i got ticket reduced and points dropped - but even paying the courts 30 bucks the system always wins even tho you think youve won

just thought id share this with you guys

I've been driving a Honda for over 5 year's now and I've NEVER been pulled over and ticketed. Maybe the "dumb *** tickets" you get every month are due to your driving skills, or lack of.

^ ha-ha!

In all honesty the majoirty of the time it does take something to trigger a cops attention but then there's also those times when all is right and the cop just has to "break em"

first off, you shouldn't be too happy because the lawyer raped the cop in court because they are actually the one protecting us. what they have been doing is to keep the road safer, that's all, not all cops are jerks... so be nice to them, in fact there's been too many hit and runs lately. they are due to ignorant drivers who speeds, lack of skills, and think they are all that.... we all speed... so i wouldn't feel good even if i get away with it, i'll just be grateful the points are drop and i'll drive safer from now on. you in fact did speed, so you know you're guilty... and 20 over is still dangerous on the road. what i'm saying is, you shouldn't be happy because the lawyer rape the cop in court because the lawyer just did it to make money, so they use cheap questions to kill off the trustworthiness of the cops' words. but we all know, the cop do believe, and the lawyer knows you did speed and you were dangerously driving. so in the end, just drive smart, you get pull over for a reason mroe than 50% of time... there are jerk cops but not a whole lot.

this is just my two cents, you might think i'm some weird guy, but we've got to be mature. i hate those people who speeds like nuts and in the end they are just a few mins earlier arriving at desitination... and i see those who speeds coz they say they are late, but they are already late, what's the point... drive safe and arrive alive... atleast keep others alive.... may those 2 who were kill in the hit and run RIP =(

i agree with everyone when they say that cops usually dont pull people over unless they are given a reason to. bad driving, crazy driving, being a superstar, loudass annoying muffler, crazy flashy lights etc...
things like that attract attention from cops.

but theres no need to give this guy a hard time. hes new and just trying to give advice, so why give him a hard time for no reason when he didnt do that to you and is just tying to help

Not to sound like a d!ck or anything but if your car was stolen wouldnt u want the cops to stop the cars that match the description?? I've been pulled over a few times for the same reason and i dont seem to mind, gives me peace of mind that if my car was to be stolen that hopefully they'll pull over cars that match the description.

HAHA, Good that the pig was made to look like a damn fool. ALL cops that I had to deal with were nothing but ******. Not only on the road but on the street as well. I've been driving for almost 4 years now and have NEVER gotten a ticket, but have been pulled over 6 times for no damn reason. 2 of those times I was asked to get out the car while they searched it giving me no explanation as to why. People say they're out there for my protection, bulls**t all they're good for is busting ***** and eating donuts. NWA said it best "F**k Tha Police"

**** da police?

Wow, really mature there. I have been pulled over many times and have gotten a ****load of tickets in my 7 years of driving. I have been pulled over for blowing by cops at mad speeds, sliding out of a turn, doing 50+km/h over, drifting, racing, and using hand brake at speeds.

I dealt with the tickets and the insurance, and it was a good lesson learned. I still speed, but I don't do it recklessly. All the tickets I got were well deserved (my fault) and sometimes lowered. I have ZERO complains against cops or what they do on the job (traffic related of course).

On the same note, when some MFing **** blows by in his stock jetta, with no muffler, christmas lights on the hood, and system blaring ... while doing 90km/h on bloor. Then he says cops are harrasing me .... I'm sorry budds, thats just ignorance. These ******** are the only reason cops "pick" (and they do) on "ricers". These punks think that the world revolves around them and the attention they are getting. Suits them right to get hassled. If you mind your own business, you WILL NOT GET HASSLED.

I have had my car lowered, and a muffler that was not too suttle, and I have been pulled over for no reason. Its all about how you handle the situation and knowing your rights. I have never met a cop that was an ******* towards me. In fact most of the time I talk my way out of a ticket, and go on my way.

"can you prove or do you know 100% that the radar gun was funcuniting at 100% and that there was nothing wrong with the gun?"
- Yes I can, it caught you speeding didn't it

"what km range was the gun set"

The one your were in, over the speed limit, so **** off

"shooting the radar gun from the side or front or at an angle - do u know if that will change the rate of speed the gun shows for the moving car - and if it does show that the sppeds are off by 1 or 2 mph - doesnt that show radar guns arent 100% accurate"

its a cop, not a speed expert. Be glad police don't waste forensic peoples time for stupid lawyers like this.

I hate lawyers but the way society wants easy money and no fault means lawyers thrive and will continue to thrive...all the way to the $140/hr bank they've become

That's cosine effect, and it's not really error at all. The radar is still giving a true indication of the closing speed of the car relative to the position of the radar.

But unless the radar is getting a dead-on shot directly in line with the car's direction of travel, the pavement speed will be always different from the radar's indicated closing speed. The greater the angle off center, the greater the difference.

But that difference is always in favor of the speeder, that is, the radar's indicated closing speed is always less than the actual pavement speed if the radar is shot at an angle to the direction of travel. A cop sitting way off the side of the road and shooting radar at the side of a car as it passes by will see a radar reading of close to zero.

Any radar operator would know this as a matter of routine training, and any high school student who actually pays attention in school would know this as a matter of vector velocities.

I watched a lawyer doing exactly this kind of questioning today. The lawyer spent literally an hour literally demanding to know if the cop was "perfect", had ever made an error in his working life, if he had always performed his duties with 100% accuracy each and every time, and on and on.

At the end of it all, the judge shot down the lawyer saying that to demand perfection is an unreasonable standard of performance. The officer only need reasonably demonstrate that he can and did perform his duties in an honest and competent manner, and that inability to guarantee absolute perfection or having made the occasional error in the past is by itself not enough to demonstrate reasonable doubt in the case presently before the court.

The resulting fine was a very large one.

I as well have fallen victim many times to being pulled over for no reason. Even though I know its only because of the way my car looks. I know from reading on this board that nothing is illegal on my car so I play it cool and usually I don't get a ticket. Still the police have done poor inconvenience then they have done good for me. Even though I don't usually get tickets, I still think being pulled over based on speculation is wrong! If I were in his position I would feel damn good to see that cop got talked backed to the same way I have seen a cop talk to me when jsut asking nicely why I have been pulled over. Bottom line is, most cops are nice people and obviously if your being pulled over for no reason then its probably going to be one of those a-hole cops. Why? because if he were nice you wouldn't have pulled you over for no reason now would he?

However sometimes I wish I would get a little more respect from a cop who pulls me over, especially when I know I have done nothing in the wrong. Atleast a simple "Sorry for the inconvenience"
