Just got a ticket, Help

Alright, so I just got off Lakeshore East on my way to work, and around 1:15 got pulled over just after that bridge near Ontario Place, and surprise surprise, a cop was there radarring. Now I know this is where they hide, and I always maintain 60 on Lakeshore, occasionally maybe 5 over to keep up with traffic flow.

So there's a Protege5 beside me to my left, and he's pulling a bit I noticed, but didn't think anything of it. Next thing I see is a cop coming out from under the bridge, stopping traffic and signalling the Protege in. So I think alright I'm off the hook, then he signals me in too, and gives us both tickets for doing 78 in a 60.

Now, its the end of the month, the cop pulled both of us in, the Protege was pulling, I know I wasn't speeding, and he signalled the Protege in first, making no reference to me after the Protege was in and I was ready to go off.

How can one cop pull two cars in on one radar gun? I'm thinking he saw an opportunity to give out an extra ticket and judging from my cars appearance thought what the hell. I definitely want to fight this, so any help would be great.

If the Protege was just pulling slightly and he got bit for 78 in a 60, and you were just about beside him - busted. They don't need your speed on the gun. It's obvious that you were going at least 10 over. End of the month = busted.

Fight it, you got nothing to lose. Worse case, you will still have to pay the initial ticket. When you get there, they may try to reduce the ticket. I would try to fight it, explain the scenario and request all documentation of the actual occurance from the Crown.

1. wrong section ...

2. he probably has good reason to since u were bascially driving beside eachother therefor maintaing the same speed .. u said urself he was pulling "a bit" so even if he was doing 78 .. u had to be doing at least 75 ... thast if this protege was even "pulling"

3. he may have radar'd u both since you were beside eacother its not that hard to gun u both .. just move the dot lol ..

I forgot to mention the ticket was reduced to 10 over, but still I know I wasn't doing 78

If you feel its wrong, take it to court.

I know my buddy got a ticket for speeding and took it to court, and the officer never showed because he had no evidence he was speeding.

If I'm not so lucky and he shows up, do you have any advice while i'm in there?

Exactly. Again, the worst that will happen is you will have to pay the initial ticket. But if you truly feel that he was in the wrong and you weren't speeding, I would go.

How do you know he had no evidence of speeding? Also, the only evidence the cop needs is his word.

Hopefully the cop does not show up for you, but if he does then pleed your case.

Remember, if the cop shows up, unless you have proof or the cop made a mistake like said you did 78 in a 60 and the posted limit is actually 70 in that zone or something like that.

A guy I know got radared, got a ticket, took it to court, the cop showed up.

The guys plan was to contest that the radar gun was working. He asked the cop if he had training on how to use the gun, cop said yes. Asked if he had some documentation for it, he said no. He when the gun was last calabrated, cop said he did not know. He asked if he was even sure if it was calabrated. Cop said no.

All in all He still got the ticket, cops word was taken.

Good luck.

Good luck.
Because my friend took it to court and the judge said the cop never showed up because he had no evidence against him.

Oh ok, I thought your friend just assumed that the cop did not show because of that reason. Usually when cops dont show is because if they are on duty at that time they do not get paid. Then if they are off duty then why would they want to show up?
