Just got tboned. Nightmare...

Dream cut short tonight. Its all been topped, for the people who know my story.

Tonight I was going north on dufferin. Get in the left turning lane to make ( obviously ) a left onto orfus road. Light is amber at this point, made a sound judgement that it was safe enough to make the turn ( cars all made a solid stop at this point so I proceeded ). Light is red and I made it 90% through, and an older gentleman hit the gas, blew the light, and hit me. Car spun 360 degrees.

Wheel is on a 45 degree angle. Quarter panel is pushed in. Chasis is bent. Leaking gas. Axle snapped. Back seats are pushed in. I'm at a loss for words. Pictures on the way.

None of both sides. girlfriend was with me, she was complaining of pains in her abdominal/rib area. Paramedics checked her out and concluded she was okay. Now, its just completely soreness. That and waiting for the reality to hit. I just revisited the car @ the shop ( dropped it off at preferred bodyshop through insurnace )

Car will most likely be written off. took detailed pictures. Coming soon.

Glad you and your GF are all good. Cars are replaceable.

Turning on an Amber... ooooo... *grins* tell them it turned amber through your turn, not that you made your turn when it had changed amber... :P

First off br thankfull you and your woman are all right.
And I'll gurantee you with that frame damage......you would'nt want your car back anyways. It would never drive the same even if they fixed it. Take the check......and next civic you get don't put any altezza's on it this time.

ditto..

glad your alright man!.. did the cops charge anyone with anythign?

zeeman 19-Oct-2008 08:35 AM

my g/f got screwed when she got hit by someone when she was turning left on a amber/red light. Even though the other person smoked the red light they claimed it was still green and since my g/f was turning left she was supposed to have control at all times and it ended up being her fault.
I'm glad that everyones OK though.

Stugatts 19-Oct-2008 08:54 AM

car = owned

eksix 19-Oct-2008 08:57 AM

t-boned? how when the damage is on the side of the car, plus look at all that bondo, just scrap it.

Cynikal.Mindset 19-Oct-2008 09:43 AM

hopefully the other driver was charged and/or you have 3rd party witnesses to help your case cuz left turns are a tricky thing and you 9/10 will be found at fault

CivicsGalor3 19-Oct-2008 10:40 AM

The older gentleman was at fault at the end of the investigation. The officer spent nearly 30 minutes with myself and the other gentleman and at the end found I wasn't at fault and ticketed the other driver. The officer didn't disclose what he was being ticketed with but the car is at insurance now. Nobody was hurt. We are just sore

make sure you get everything valuable outta your car before some1 takes it (ie. stereo) that happened to me... came next day and my whole system was gone :(... seriously tho even if its at a bodyshop that you trust... once they figure its a writeoff they might move it elsewhere (this happened to me)

but glad you guys are ok

Adair 19-Oct-2008 12:35 PM

Sorry to hear what happened to you. Hope you manage alright with the insurance, etc...there's some hassles and frustration you probably didn't need. But, repeating what others have said, very glad that you and your g/f didn't incur serious injuries. It was wise to have paramedics there to initially check things out.

Thanks, Shaaron...that's awfully good of you to say.
Hate seeing anyone go through the mess of a crash, wreaks havoc for a while--nobody needs the added stress. :(

you know you might still get sued right? when it comes to lawsuits they don't care what the officer says, you'll go to discoveries and thats where they'll determine who's at fault, thats where your young age and modified car and driving record (if bad) come to hunt you, its harsh but thats unfortunately how things work these days. Get yourself a good lawyer and sue before you get sued, keep all medical records, eye doctors examinations before and after the crash, vehicle maintenance records, etc.. somewhere safe you'll need them later. good luck

Where do we live, the USA?
Just because you sue them doesnt mean they cant counter sue you.

MrX 19-Oct-2008 04:14 PM

^ I don't see difference between here and the US when it comes to this stuff. if you sue first you have the upper hand.
