Insurane Applications

is it just me or are all companies asking for new clients to fill out Ontario Insurance Applications??
I tried a bunch of companies with different setups to try and get my car insured but all of them said they needed an insurance application filled.
They could only mail it to me and i would have to mail it to them back.
Over a year ago when i got insurance with RBC they didn't need me to fill any application out. What gives?

Oh and the reason why i need insurance now is because RBC raised my rates by over $100 a month for no reason and i juss cancelled it right a way like an idiot.

If your attempting to obtain a NEW insurance policy, obviously they want you to fill out an application ... How else do they do a background search and check on you?

When I got my own insurance for the first time in 2000 I was able to take care of it over the phone. When I switched companies last year it was the same thing.

- Hah, just read your post about the reason. I had the exact same problem with RBC. They raised my rates, I asked why and they said 'because'. But I found my next insurance company first then told them off and cancelled the policy.

....through the information i provided them with over the internet and the phone?

they didn't need me to fill out an application the first time around

In order to confirm the information, you have to sign an application ...otherwise your policy is useless ... They can ask you the questions over the phone, but you have to sign the app in order to say you have answered all the questions honestly ... If you do it over the phone or internet, thats fine, but it still needs to be signed ... Most companies will have YOU fill it out so everything is in your words, and if you lie or misrepresent yourself, its all on you because you filled it out

You can go to any broker to pick one up, but they may ask for your business, and the company you are going with may have their logo on their app, so you may just want to wait ... Call and ask them directly
