Insurance policy cancelled but they still want payment
My fathers insurance policy was recently cancelled because we were deemed high risk drivers. They came to this conclusion because they claimed we had failed to inform them of all incidents regarding our vehicles. When the broker searched his database he could only find two incidents and the third incident (where we were rear ended and pushed into the car ahead of us did not show up.) So the stupid broker sent off the coverage forms and a few days after we were accepted they cancelled us. The policy was about 6000$ and we had already paid 600 of the 900$ in intial fees, and now they are asking for the outstanding ammount of 300$. We had 15 days to find a new company and did, so I dont think we were insured that long.
Now the question is, since the incidents did not show up in the brokers records(he could be lying) are we still liable for that remaining 300$??? And during those 15 days were we even covered??
I dont feel we should pay, is there a way around this?

It never ******* ends! Losers!
Ignore them. Lawyer's letter.
Relative to another thread, *another* buddy (two were just *** raped last week), with no claims, just had his insurance go up $2000.00 yesterday. 'Mr. XXX, since you were with company coverage for five years (he had no accidents), would you please provide proof of driving record blah, blah blah'! He has been with his present company 3 years. Now they need more proof.
They are such ********...
1 in 8 are uninsured. Going to get a lot higher...
Whats insurance for, for Christ's sake? **** them all...
Excuse my language and rant, but I am hearing stories of immoral and unethical comapnies too close to home everyday!

When you submitted the application for insurance their is a insert on the application which states that if you were to void coverage or coverage was not given to you their is a minimum payment that is witheld ... As far as I know it was only 15% of the yearly premium or a max of $300 ... So, I'm not sure what company you are speaking of ...

My dad just told me they covered us for about a month, but I still dont think that month was worth 900$. When the broker set it up, he only requested the 600$, and never said anything about the 300$
Are they legally entitled to this amount?
If we dont pay, what actions can they take?

Optimum Frontier is based out of North Bay I believe .... are you up NOrth? ... If you don't pay their is not much they can do but it might be tough to find another policy as it may show up as a NSF when you try to get coverage elsewhere ..... I've seen that before ....

Nope, we're not up north, thats just the company the broker found for us.
So they cant hire a credit agency to get the money?? Btw what does NSF stand for?
We already are covered by a new company so we're not to worried about getting coverage.

Im not too sure a letter from a lawyer will do much. What could they possibly say that would make them look past this?
One thing is for sure though, insurance companys will always find a way to get their money, which doesnt look good for us.
