Insurance For A Modified Car

I own a stock 97 SI coupe and the engine has quite a few kms on her. I was hoping to do a B18C1 swap sometime down the road. I have read up on the engine swap topic and it seem that it not illegal to do the swap, but the loop hole is that it's illegal to do the swap and not tell your insurance company about it. With all the heat about streetracing lately I would think that cops are going to be looking harder now for engine swaps, mods, etc, and report back to the insurance companies so that you end up paying $7,000 a year for insurance for not following the law. I think it's BS. The cars don't cause streetracing or accidents, it's the people driving them. Anyways before I get on another topic, I have read that some people on here have their mods insured with certain insurance companies. Can anyone tell me what insurance company will insure mods? Any idea on what mods and how much did it cost?

I have talked to insurance companies and they would not let me swap in a DOHC 1.6. I have a SOHC 1.6, it's still a 1.6L engine. I have a good drivng record. It appears that a lot of people mod their cars and they don't tell their insurance company. Does it have to be a gamble like that? A lot of people have told me I'm being too picky. They are probaly right, but would like to know if there another way to do this.

Any feedback would be appriciated.
Thanks!

No one has any input on this?
I've called multiple insurance companies and have had no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

My car is currently insured under my parents plan (I'm primary) with Pilot ins.
I have a B18C swap, that the ins company doesn't know about yet. But I called them to get a quote not under my parents plan, they quoted me $1462 /year. I then told them I would be installing a new more powerful motor he said that was fine, the cost of the swap/engine just wouldn't be covered if the car had to be replaced.

I got a similar story/quote from Johnson Inc. insurance, although I do get a group rate with them through the College I went to (their Alumni Association)

Oh yeah, this is for a 95 hatch and I'm 24, live in Cambridge

I have heard a few stories where peoples insurance have been rendered null/void because they failed to honestly represent their information to their insurance company. I believe you are required to tell your insurance company first before you make any of the changes.

As for your company not insuring you, it could be a few factors: you are either too young and they few you as too much of a risk with a swapped motor, or your company doesn't deal with modifications.

My brother has a b18 swapped and its been insured. So there are companies out there that will do it.
