Insurance for imported (JDM) car

Anyone know the rates for an import car? Say like a Nissan Skyline GTR?

Right-hand drive?

Good luck. Many insurance companies won't touch them.

There is different insurance you can get for "show cars" or collectibles, historics, etc, but they all come with extremely stringent usage conditions. You can't get that type of coverage for daily drivers.

Also, the issue isn't whether the car is imported. The issue for many insurance companies is the phrase "right-hand drive". Driving a right-hand drive car in a left-hand drive jurisdictions carries additional collision risks that some companies don't want to bear.

By the way, under the HTA, all right-hand drive vehicles must have a conspicuous warning on the back of the vehicle stating that the car is right-hand drive.

Wow that really sucks. I just want a JDM car to play around with lol. I called State Farm and they said they could insure it under "import" or "classic" cars, but like u said, u can only drive it during the summer and there r many other restrictions.

But the funny thing is, they never told me the rate!!!

JDM cars r really cheap now, like $9000 for skylines, tt fairladies! But too bad they r RHD.

my civic insurnace is more than enough for me. My insurance company told me that Honda Civic si are the most expensive regular car to insure and they also said that they wont insure people in rexdale, which I am really close to so to save a couple thousand dollars (literary) I put my adress under my dads house who lives in missisauga.
