You either better of had that **** appraised to its approximate value which im betting you didnt, or you must produce legitimate receipts for all of the stolen equipment. I hope in the future once you get ANOTHER new system that you for once do the smart thing as I am doing and pay the little exrtra fee to trusted vehicle appraiser so you can get your money back in the future.

Only if your car is apparised to a whole lot more then the original amount, ie $1500.00 book value appraised to $11.000, then likely your rate will go up a little, not usally more then an extra 50 bucks a month.

dont claim it.
your insurance will increase on your renewal date.
even if you appraised it including the radio.

good luck man, i feel for you

I would claim it if you have receipts...if your insurance company is nice, you maybe can show them pics of your system....

funny, how easily police officers will give you a speeding ticket for 20 over in a fifty, but when you need their help they are nowhere to be found

why are you bashing cops?

Why the **** wouldn't a cop give you a speeding ticket for going 70 in 50?

Cops don't do anything wrong, they do there job some are just stricter then others, but not matter what they will be there for you

they just focus on the wrong things sometimes, this lady on our street got her house broken into in the middle fo the day when she was out grocery shopping (she's retired or something) and the cops wouldn't show up until 11 o'clock that night and the poor lady was so scared she was sitting on her porch for like 10 hours until they showed up because they didn't have any officers available.... meanwhile like two blocks away they ahve a 5 man speed trap set up...

hmmmm... i'm not saying it's right to bash cops but sometimes it just makes u wonder...

as for the question depends on how much you can prove it was worth, pics won't do **** u need receipts

i think we need more police bashing.

loud exhaust taking priority to crimes with victims shows stupidity or self serving principles.

car ticket = money

helping people = the same benefit as a McDonalds smile.

my friend wanted to claim his deck, the insurance company told him they would cover him, but he'd be considered high risk and wouldn't be covered again for theft... he just bought a new deck..

they will replace your audio up to a limit of 500 i think it is?

You better off not claiming it insurance companies are looking for an excuse to boot people out because of the losses they are getting nowadays.

My deck was stolen long time ago. I reported it and faxed receipt. They told me to buy a new one (it was Pioneer 9200 or something like that, 999 dollars, a gift). Then at that time, Future Shop was running out of stock and apparently, the only model they had was the demo so I took it, and because it was a demo, they lowered the value, and with the spare money, they installed an alarm for me. Basic Viper.

Then later, that deck was stolen again, with alarm cutted off. Then I went back to Future Shop again but that model was upgraded to 9300 and 9200 was discontinued so obviously, insurance won't replace 9200 with 9300 so I just got a cheque for it instead. But at that time, it was appraised at 670 or something like that. So I took the money, and had the installed reinstall my old CD deck.

I think insurance did go up a bit, but nothing outrageous.

I think the limit changes from company to company, if my system is stolen or damaged in an accident then I got upto 1500 for it.

It is up to maximum of $1500 for car stereo. I verified today with several companies.

Hey Blair, where did you get your car appraised?

I'm just curious as to how many people here have told their insurance companies about their modifications. My renewal is coming up and I'm looking for a different company. I've found that most insurance companies will not insure you if you have made modifications that changes the engineering of the car. Such as force induction, engine swap, and suspension lowering. Also failure to mention to your insurance company any modifications allows them the right to deny any claims that you may have.

The only companies that will insure me now are high risk companies and my car is pretty stock.

I got my appraisal done through Maurice Bramhall, my family has had him appraise all of our cars for the last 15 years, the 2 cars that got written off we got full value back from because of him. Heres his website http://www.bramclassauto.com/appraisals.php

Are you with Melloche Monnex like me? If you are then I would suggest you stay with them because any other company is gonna jack your rate through the roof, trust me on im an expert on that. Melloche seemed to be pretty resonable with me, I told them about all the mods in detail that are on my car and the appraised value and they didnt raise the rate more then a few bucks. However I do have a 3 star rating with them so that may change the way they view me a little bit as I am considered to be a lower risk.

Melloche Monnex is insuring you? I'm a member of OACETT (group of technologist and engineering) and we're supposed to get a discount with Meloche Monnex. I called them up and they said they would not insure me because my car is lowered with coilover. They told me they do not insure modified vehicles.

My question is do they know about your engine and any other mods that changes the engineering of the car.

The only reason I'm looking for a different insurance company is because my broker told me that if the insurance company ever knew about my suspension they would deny my claims. So basically right now I'm paying for insurance yet my vehicle isn't properly insured.

I just went over the document that my mom signed when we got our insurance and it says any material change we must notify the insurance company or they can deny any of our claims.

Hmm well the insurance company does know about all my mods including the engine swap, which I told them was done before I bought the car because the old motor had 240,000kms and it bit the dust. That was B.S. but they dont know that nor do they appear to care because when I bought the car it passed E-Test with the "assumed" new motor. As far as them not insuring you because your car is lowered I would considering askin them this: tell them that you are willing to take your car to get it re-safetied with the current suspension and other mods, and ask them if it passes the D.O.T will they insure you. Its worth a shot IMO.
