Why do you want to contact his insurance company? If you want to go thru insurance you have to contact your own insurance company or brokerage give them all the information that you have and they will do all the dirty work.

^^^ Yup, that is normally how it works. If he backed into you and you weren't moving then you're not at fault. Your insurance company should not penalize your for it. So you shouldn't worry about going thru insurance.

good reason, just say you're busy with exams

by the way, sometimes they don't mind that you want to settle with cash because sometimes insurance company don't like to payout and go through lots of process then another process of adjusting your premium...

my friend, she back into someone's car, then she called her insurance company to see if she should claim or pay that guy cash because her car was damaged too... then the insurance company advise her if the damage value is no more than $1000, then just pay cash... because with all the deductible, she'll just get cover for a lil... and since the damage is so lil, her premiums are unlikely to be adjusted and as well as it is time consuming to go through a huge process...

so i do see insurance company sometimes prefer the easier route...

just tell them you had exam and it was very important... or play innocent... when you sound nice, the agent will be cool too
