Insurance: Can aunt/uncle (aka guardian) be primary and I be ocassional?
Well due to 2 at fault (1 was really atfault but the other was supposedly not my dads fault because the cops didnt arrive).
Anyways my dad is paying 5500 a year for the CR-V, (any car...). Now my 'close' aunt/uncle (with 3 daughters 19, 20, 23), in the family they have Home Insurance along with Auto Insurance for 1 Lease Car 2002 and 1 Honda Civic 2002. Last time I asked their dad is the primary driver for both vehicles. If thats the case, if I get a car, can my aunt be the primary driver and I be ocassional. Will this be definately cheaper than going under my dad's name?
Thanks.

yes it will be cheaper ..but IMO it's fraud since you will actually be driving your car more then your aunt drives your car...insurance companies if they suspect this and find out (through private investigate or people that sell information) they'll end you over...they always do bend you over...thats is their purpose on the planet to bend car owners over.
just my 2 cents
just my 2 cents

that is fraud
and also you'd have to prove that you live with them or something, put the car in their name, etc.... a lot of work and continuously convince the company that the aunt is driving it more.... it's not worth it IMO

To prove they are my guardian, give custody to my aunt (since the custody ends when I'm 18). Than I can prove aunt works different from uncle so they need two cars. I just go drive on weekend, not 'fraud' . How much will I be saving. My dad is a high risk driver now due to 2 accidents (prob less than 3k in total) on the old car, plus we arent with home insurance.
My uncle/aunt (3 daughters)
Home Insurance (new home in maple)
2002 Highlander Leased
2002 Civic LX-G Sport Financed
And its less than 3k/year.
My aunt hardly, ever drives 0.01% so her record should be good

find but the fact is this if your an occasional driver on the car then you can't drive more then the primary driver, if you do and insurance finds out the least they will do is recalculate your rates the most is cancel your insurance.

Okay not ocassional how about secondary driver.
Would it be cheaper if my aunt is primary and im secondary?
But uncle has home insurance and is primary for 2 new cars, will it be a better price if adding another primary for lets say 93 civic and secondary driver (me).
Or go under dad's name whos currently paying 5500 for insurance.

Isnt it the truth?
I let my parents transfer custody to my uncle/aunt.
I purchase a car, my auntie is primary of my uncle, my uncle is primary of his two cars, home insurance.
I travel to school... isn't this the truth. What else will I need to tell, do Insurance broker discuss about this since they actually look for insurance companies. I'll drop the "ocassional" driver idea.
Thanks

I don't know about other ppl/other insurance companies but in MY case, when I got in an accident/got tickets, my dad's record got from "OK to worse"(as i my record got bad)just because of me... beware of that...:fustrated
PS. I don't know how this works out but that's what happened to me and my dad...

Use a broker, not an agent, and let them figure out how to deal with you (sorry for the harsh language!) Agents work with one company; in this case the one who wrote the house policy. Brokers get deals from multiple insurance companies at wholesale, then retail to you. You can haggle with the brokers, not the agents. Be up front and tell them what you and your aunt are willing to do, and let them sort out the mess.
