Hey,

Just wondering if I can park like this:

The front of my car is covering 25% of the sidewalk BUT my wheel IS NOT touching the sidewalk.

Is this legal?

from what i understand people have to be able to walk on the sidewalk. You cannot obstruct it.

You shouldn't get a ticket for using up that little amount of it unless the cop is bored, angry or a pathetic excuse for someone claiming to 'protect and serve'.

The ticket for being on the sidewalk is greater then being off it. I've attempted to be respectfull and park on the sidewalk just a little bit to give cars more room to pass by. Doing this has only gotten me higher tickets. So i stopped, if i need to park at the side of the road, then that's what i do

*P.S. I don't have a driveway, and often times i don't have parking on my street. This is the governments fault, as they have oversold parking permits for my zone*

Ya, don't block any part of the sidewalk. We park right up to it but still, we try to move the cars closer together and leave as much room behind the car as possible.

ALRIGHT!

I can't park on the side of the road, stupid government put NO PARKING signs and I have 3 cars at home.

so if someone complains then I'll get a ticket? Good, because I wonder why no one has given me a ticket yet.

So I guess LEGALLY you are allowed to park it, as long as your wheel isnt touching the sidewalk? LEGALLY.

if there are no parking signs, then i don't think you can park there period. might be a reason ie snow removal

the worst thing that'll happen if there are no parking signs is you get towed , look around to see if it says "tow away zone"

i've got the same problem, 3 cars, 1 garage, no street parking. all my neighbours and i just park on the street and once a month the parking guy comes and gives everyone a ticket (i kidd you not). all 30 cars. the ticket is only 20 bucks but still....

LEGALLY your not allowed to block the sidewalk because it isnt your property.
the air above and the land underneath isnt your property either.

maybe what you can do is park sideways along the part between the road and sidewalk.

i doubt you will have any problems if there are no old people in your area.
if gov't things plow the sidewalk once in a while, there is a higher chance of getting a ticket

a cop wouldnt write that ticket it would be a by-law officer. cops rarely carry by-law ticket books

I don't think it is the wheels on the sidewalk, no body parts overhanging as well.

Where I used to live, we had to open the garage door so 3 cars can park bumper to bumper and it just clears the curb. There was no sidewalk on our side.

That's why we moved. I guess it was my fault for getting the 3rd car.

That would be parking enforcement, or your local by-law officer

No, you can not block any part of the sidewalk for the reasons already stated. But you should also be aware that if you do it anyway, and don't pay your tickets they will not renew your licence plates.

this is a by-law issue.
and cannot be answered by anyone on this board.

check your local by-law's especially near your area related ones then you will know.

by-law's are only applicable to each city, town not as a whole of ontario.
