how low is low when you lower your car? like what do the cops go by when they see your car? i herad if thereis rubbing..they can ticket you..that makes sense..but does anyoen here know exactly waht it is they go by?

under the highway traffic act their is no set height of what is too low. It is based on the tires making contact with the body of the car when turned rack to rack

ppl say 2 finger gap.... but im ridin now and im about 5mm from the fenders....

its up to the cops discretion... unsafe etc..... and lowering a car lowers the bumper point so it may be cinsidered unsafe incase of an accident....

again, i dont know the accual law on it and whatnot, im just saying what i have been told.....

my friends ride is friggen dumped but his tires don't rub, so it's all legal

because vehicles come in all deifferent shapes ans sizes the tire cannot touch any part of the vehicle when turned rack to rwck and may not be contacting the ground while in motion

i think the only reason they can hassle you for being too low is the rubbing because it is no longer a street racing issue or something, but more of a safety issue. that's why its not directly specified in the hwy traffic act because there isn't a tickets for being "too low", but there are penalties for driving an unsafe car...


i got hassled when my car broke down on erin mills pkwy and this cop came by and he was cool, then this next one came by and started making me cut my wheel and **** to the left and right. i didn't even get pulled over and they were hassling me. but he was checking to see if my wheel was rubbing my fender... which it doesn't, but yeah... he was saying its unsafe if it touches because it could rip your fender off on the hwy or some bull**** like that. ha, image that... some civic ripping it then his fender just magically pops off and come flying at you.

There is once I saw this EL going south bound on Yonge, and wanted to go on 401 east (if you know that section, below the bridge) and his car is sorta lowerd, but also, with a big body kit in front.

The road at the intersection was a bit uneven (still is I believe) and due to lowered stance plus body kit (which is already damaged) he slowed down all of a sudden, trying to make it over but he still scrapped (I heard it clearly) and the car behind him almost hit it due to sudden slow down.

You lower your car and you will worry about things like it, which may lead to accident sometimes.

hey charles... remember how low my ek is??? exhaust finally busted because the pipe nailed every time i hit uneven road... well, just the hanger's broke off so i am getting it fixed... oooh, and that silencer... i never use it, it sounds soo nice in vtec... i wish i had it on for the hamilton home-depot meet.

Any tire that is rubbing against any part of the body during a full turning sweep will get your vehicle towed and plates pulled.

That is the law. Some officers may give you a warning, some may ticket you and TOW it.

Be advised.

Well I asked a cop once about it cuz I noticed he was driving a dumped civic and he said that as long as the tire are not rubbing in stop position you are fine

Any contact between your tires and body/frame parts is unacceptable and constitutes an unsafe vehicle condition.

In addition, no part of a vehicle other than your tire rubber can touch the ground in the full range of suspension travel. If you're dropping sparks off your exhaust or bumpers or any other part, the car is too low to be legal for street use. A cop can remove your plates and order the vehicle towed.

Quite frankly, slamming a cr or truck that low to the ground makes a vehicle unsuitable and even dangerous for normal street use. If you have to slow your car to an absolute crawl just to enter an ordinary driveway curb cut-out, that car should be removed from the road until it is restored to a more reasonable ride height.
