That makes no difference. What matters is that your vehicle is not what you told the insurance company it was. They may choose to decline paying any extra for the engine, or they may decline payout completely because you did not inform them of the change to the vehicle.

You really roll the dice when you modify your car without informing the insurance company of those changes.

if it's just cosmetic stuff then why was your engine even brought up in the first place. if you made the mistake of telling them then you're not the smartest guy out there. whenever you make changes you either tell them and your premium goes up at their decided rate (rip off by the way) or you don't tell and keep it that way! if you ever need to put a claim in, just submit the receipts showing prices and don't go into details or swap everything back to normal. i'm not busting your ***** or anthing but you really got to be a baller at this type of shyt.
when i got hit by drunk truck driver and lost my soop'd geo storm. they wanted to give me $1600. i paid $2100 and invested another $1200 aprx. I milked them for $5600 after showing up downtown with fake overpriced reciepts. they tried saying i didn't disclose that info to them and i said you ask for pics only and besides i don't care about book value cause i insured my car with you for what i paid and what it's worth. They paid and i was happy but i still miss that lil buddy of mine...rip lil geo.

claims adjusters will look at the whole vehicle incase its a write off to determine the value of the car
