help with ticket

ok anyways heres the story stupid neon driver didnt know how to drive and wasent paying attention, so due to that he had to slam on his breaks infront of me not to hit the car infront of him which was coming to a stop, as I seen him slam them down and he skid I slamed mine down and slitly hit him,

anyways he and i both got a ticket for fallowing to closely

which IS BS anyways if anything he should have got that not me

anyways my ticket has a mistake in it
my address is wrong, as of that i did hear that the ticket is not a valid ticket since the officer (girl) did mess up)

is this true what should i do?

i've heard that those little mistakes don't merit a "false" ticket anymore, that they can adjust information on that ticket at any time now

Stupid Neon driver didn't know how to drive?

From your story, it seems that he was paying enough attention that he was able to stop before hitting the car in front of him.

From your story, you were not. Who is the stupid driver who doesn't know how to drive in this story?

Minor errors on the ticket can get amended in court. It happens all the time.

You're just lucky that you weren't charged with careless driving, which is the charge that usually applies when following too close results in a collision.

the key is a 3 second gap ... choose a light post and fromt he time the back end of the car infront of you passes it to the time the front of your car passes it you should be able to count to 3 .... with 1000's in between the numbers.....

Well, then I read your post wrong. You said he braked to not hit the car he was behind. You didn't say he actually hit.

My apologies... he's not any better a driver than you are.

Atually thats what it sounds like you hit him and then he hit the car in front so it looks like you were following too close.

If he hit the car in front of him first, and you can verify this in court ( the tough part ), then you may be able to dodge that ticket since he would have obviously came to a much faster stop after colliding with another vehicle, i.e. crumple brakes. If you hit him and he hit the car in front then you're SOL. Regardless, try in future to look at more than just the bumper in front of you while driving. If you checked out traffic ahead you would have had more warning.
