help getting insurance for swapped car

Hi all, Im new here. My name is Jackie and im from London.
I have a 93 Hatch DX with a 2001 GS-R swap. I bought the car probably in the first few weeks of September. My parents put me on their policly as a second driver. they had to get my car e-tested, safetied and everything. but it failed the e-test, and my dad had to go to acura to get a document stating that i have a GS-r engine in order to give me the records for the pass. So, my car passed the safety and everything, and I had to bring it to get it inspected for the insurance company. so everyrthging went fine and all, and i was able to drive it for a month or so, then in the mail. i get a leter from the insurance stating that my policy is being canceled as of nov. 24 because it's modified. so now my dad called a few companies up, and they won'tsell me any.
any ideas on what I should do? do some of your insurance companies know you have a swap? pretty ****ty... any help would be greatly appreciated.

anyways, this is my first post, so i'll put up some pics of my car and such. i've been using superhonda for quite some time now, until i came across this forum. atleast its in canada... ontario actually.

Yep, they'll do that to you. Try Moloche Monnex, you MIGHT be able to get away with the swap.

As a last resort you might have to go with facility and get raped up the *** in premiums.

I bought the car with the swap already done to it. ****.... this sucks.. this mechanic that I work with told me he put a 350 small block into his old skool chevy, and he told them that he had a swap done to it. they took his VIN and they put that vehicle has a swap, and hes not able to get any type of insurance at all. he says he's going to wait unitl its a clasic, and put it as that. thanks alot for the replies

Try finding an independent broker and then going through them. They have an abundance of sources for insurance obiviously. They also normally get you better rates.

Alrite,

If you've read my previous posts you should know that you are out of luck! I'm sorry to say this to you.

I was in the same situation this summer and posted on TCC and got no help. =P. So I called around and finally got my insurance cancelled by Monnex because of my flipping AEM INTAKE and EIBACH SPRINGS! Now, I am selling my car because insurance is just way too much.

This is what you gotta do to insure modified cars. FIND AN INSURANCE COMPANY THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE YOU TO BRING YOUR CAR IN FOR INSPECTIONS! (Such as www.johnson.ca) Yes, that means you have to lie to them. "It's all stock". However, you've already been cancelled, so it's on your record. Therefore, don't try!

You should have contacted insurance companies before buying a modified car. That's why it's better to buy STOCK and then modify after you've been insured.

If I were to swap back the engine into a D, and then bring it for an inspection with all the stock stuff, would I be able to get insured you think? taht sucks you only had springs and a intake. I got a swap, v2 intake, header, TB, fuel presh regulator, and Intake manifold. ****...
lets hope this last comapny, SHILLINGTON, would be able to sell it to me. I've already been cancelled too. lets hope it works

why not go to an insurance company that doesnt care about modified cars?

TD insurance will only pay out 1500 on modified cars which means if your car is stolen and stripped they will only pay out 1500 no matter how much your car was modifed...this also means they will cover modified cars.

I am with Allstate and I just talked to him the other day about a super charger. The underwriter said no even though he fought for it because really a stock EX has no power and a supercharger comes stock with some cars. So I said how much are my rates going to change if I put a new engine in it. He said not at all the other thing is I will only be covered for the cost of the STOCK engine and not the new one I put in. Come spring its going to be a new engine lol. If you want the name of my agent I can send it to ya.

Called up the guy you were refering to and he said he can't insure me if I dropped in a new engine.

Maybe you got lucky and your parents have their house policy with the guy.

But I knew it was too good to be true for me.
