handicap parking ticket help!

I play soccer for lambton college, and we had a game out of town the other night. We take a bus to the game. my grandma came with my to watch my game so I park my car in a handicap parking spot near the bus. This is at like 430 pm so theres barely anybody using the handicap spots. Turns out we forgot to put her handicap sticker on the dash there. I get back and i got $300 parking ticket. So i go to the parking place and bring in the handicap sticker and the ticket. Then they start feeding me some BS about me having to get the DEAN's signature saying that my grandma was in fact with us.

I'm sure there are instances where handicap people have forgotten to put the sticker up.
do i really need to get his sig? or are they feeding me a bunch of BS?
So can anyone tell me how i can get this resolved? I dont wanna pay $300 bucks over this BS.

thanks

Props for the excellent tip!
serves me right? take the stick out your ass and chill out hater!

:focus:
i think the ladies at the parking office are bull****ting me when they say they need a letter from the dean proving my gma was there.
Show me that in writing and il believe it.
Whatever happened to innocent til poven guilty?

Man, it's tough when you get a ticket like that.

I've always hated lazy people who park in the handicap spaces, and every time someone would get a ticket for it, I was happy to see them get what they deserve.

In your case, if you have the permit and just forgot to place it in the window, and if the permit says it is for the car you driving, and the person to whom it's assigned was driving it, I don't see why they would not let you go w/o having to pay. All you have 2 do is fight the ticket.

I feel for you. Sadly this isn't a case of innocent until proven guilty. You were parked in the spot, sans sticker, there's the guilt.
Was this public property or school property? What is stated on the ticket? Is there a "court" you can take it to?
You should be given the opportunity to plead your case, but the bottom line is that you were parked in the spot without the sticker/permit.

Try and fight it, see what happens. Get an affidavit from your gramma stating she was there with you that day.

fight it man, my moms got the sticker and they gave her a ticket even when it was in the car and they dropped it right away

The offence is not displaying the necessary permit. You admit to being guilty of that.

The problem with your excuse is that it can be used by absolutely anyone, regardless of whether they had a legitimately handicapped person in the car or not. All they have to do is know a handicapped person possessing a disabled parking permit who is willing to lie.

You can fight it if you want, but if I were adjudicating the case, there would be only one question to determine guilt, and that is - did you display your permit?

After all, that is the stipulated obligation for those who would use disable parking spots. It's a small requirement and one you should have been able to follow. If you did forgot the permit, you could easily have dropped your grandmother at the desired location, then parked legally in an ordinary parking spot, and then walked back to rejoin the grandmother. After all, though she's disabled, you, being a soccer player, are not.

The analogy a few posts up about going to a store without money is actually appropriate. If you find yourself at the store without means of payment, you don't just help yourself to the store's goods anyways. You go home and get your money first.
