Unhappy Got a ticket :( and some questions too

Hey Guys And Gals!

I got a speeding ticket yesterday originally for 83 in a 60 zone and $150 but the officer was really nice and knocked it down to 70 in a 60 and the ticket for $40 and I was just wondering if I lost any points and if there is a way to check? will my insurance go up now? and also on my ticket he wrote I had a 05 when my car is a 02 so people are telling me I could fight it but I don't know if it's worth it?...THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I don't think the cop could have it reinstated to 83 in a 50 if he got pissed cus you're fighting the ticket after he gave you a break. I'm not sure if the '05 thing would even really hold up. The ticket has your license plate and name and all that info on it. It's obvious who was speeding.

I'd say cut your losses and pay the ticket. I don't think that you'll lose any demerits for doing 10 over.

by 05 ... you mean the year of your car ?
that doesn't even matter , any error on the ticket is grounds for termination. they'll just toos it when you fight it !
happened to me before , the cop mixed up the numbers on the ticket for my plate .... tossed

you loose points on any ticket over 15 km, so your safe
i think from incarance broker to broker it differs, but with my broker the first ticket is a freebie no premium increase ... but get 2 tickets in a year and they will consider both tickets when reviewing your policy ...

go fight the ticket bro ... it will get thrown out due to the error !

hell the wrote 05 in that same box on my ticket was well and I drive a 93

what that is is the year the registration expires....

as for the ticket being bumped up... nope can't be done

as for the points.... nope no points

as for what to do about it ...pay it don't waste your time

You'll be kicking yourself if you don't fight it. Always fight a ticket.

i dont think it matters how much over or how many points are on the ticket to the insurance companies. a ticket is a ticket.

No, it usually has to be more than 16 over for it to count against your driving record with insurance companies

DON'T PAY FOR THE TICKET! If there is any error on the ticket it will be thrown out! I can get you the number of a friend of mine who is a lawyer if you want. In the meantime call XCopper.

Thank you for clarifying that. One of the standard chorus's heard often in this forum is that "any ticket will raise your insurance".

In addition, the fact that the ticket has an error on it does not mean anything. What are you going to claim.. "It wasn't me driving the car, your worship. Whoever was driving that 2005 with my license and who looked exactly like me is the one you're looking for."? If you can then wave your hand and pull off a Jedi Mind Trick then, yes, you will get off for that reason. But if you don't posess those powers and the judge hasn't smoked any crack in the 15 minutes before your trial then I think the court would agree that it irrelevant that the cop wrote the wrong number while he had YOU pulled over for speeding. Any tickets that the cop gave to your car, however, will be null and void.

XCopper and lawyers for a 10 over ticket??? Only if you really want to make a point and spend a few hundred for kicks. I think most people in the legal profession, even the guy who makes the coffee for the office, would feel stupid wasting their time on a 10 over ticket.

ahh thanks for clearing that up. I always thought that if you've got a moving infraction ticket, including any speeding tickets, it will go against you insurance wise.

thanks again.

cops gave me a ticket for placing my front plate on the dash,... same reason as the other guy, newly painted bumpers. do i get demerit points for this? Will this go against my insurance?

all i got to say is if the cop droped it to a minor speeding offence...dont fight it...once i got caught doing 93 in a 60 zone..cop was nice 2. droped it to a 70 in a 60 zone, but she said if i fight it she whould get me for the actual speed i was caugth at. and no it wont be on your insurance. only if you fight it and lose will it be on your insurance......take it like a man and pay your fine and be happy that is all it is.
