Got pulled over today...

I just got into a bad encouter with some dick head cop. My buddy just got his licence, and he bought a new car, and got his 10 day permit. All our papers were legit. This stupid guy pulled us over for nothing really, just to bother us. So we give him our papers, and he comes back telling my buddy his licence was suspended in 2003. And i was like WTF he just got his licence on Friday. So he suspended my buddy's license under a "MEDICAL" Wouldn't even tell us why, or how long. He wasn't sick or on drugs or anything. The cop was being such an *******, he wouldn't listen to anything we said, literally took away my friends dignity, and he was gonna tow the car away. He even asked whats that (and pointed at the 10 day permit.) IS HE A STUPID **** OR WHAT?

Im taking this to court, im calling lawyers and getting all kinds of legal advice, I want this pigs Badge, You call this Toronto's Finest? I'll keep you guys posted on the case.

Be careful with the complaints. They'll give you hell if you decide to file a complaint and it goes through. You'll be getting speeding tickets for 61 in 60 and you'll get parking tickets in your own driveway and you get pulled over every time the cops friends see you driving around.

But its not like its going to work anyways...last year there were 742 complaints followed up by the police in the GTA but none of them were founded...thats pretty sad.

Best bet is to just go to court.

Its people like them that cause major headaches for people, just because they are on a power trip, this leads to tickets, paying out money for no reason, lost money due to being off work, higher insurance. Cops shouldnt be allowed to abuse their power, and yes I couldnt give a **** what would happen to these kind of people, there are 100s of good people, innocent children that die everyday, crooked cops would get no sympathy from me. You can laugh, but when you get pulled over and ticketed for no reason you wont be laughing then.

Stop for a moment, give your head a shake. Do you really think you got pulled over for no reason?

If a cop driving behind you sees no license plates on the car, of course you're likely to be pulled over for a check.

If the cop then does a check on your buddy on the in-car computer and it comes back that he is suspended for whatever reason, of course the cop is going to inform him that his license is suspended. That's the cop doing his job with the information available to him at the time.

Maybe the information the cop got over his in-car computer is wrong, but do you really expect that a cop is going to take "your" word for it?

No, of course not. Most cops more than a day on the job have heard every story, every excuse, and every lie several times over. You can't fault them for placing greater credibility on what comes in over the computer than what comes out of people's mouths.

Now, you say you're calling a lawyer? Because your friend got pulled over for driving without license plates and because your friend was on the system for whatever reason as having a suspended license? Good one. The lawyer will be happy to take your money. They take money from stupid people all the time.

Hey bud, what the cop did was unjust. We're only 18-20. We aren't dumbasses, we know our rights. The guy just got his license so how can he had a suspended license, there can be a million Smiths or whatever in Toronto. And theres lot of places that gives legal advice for this kind of stuff, i should know, I had my share of bad encounter with cops. My point is most cops are Dicks, and it seems that way with my experiences, NO matter how nice you try to be, how Honest, or how reasonable u are, THE COP IS A DICK. We weren't making any road violations, not speeding or nothing. The Dick saw 3 young asian guys, and thought we had weed. Thats just GAY! The Police needs to be tought a lesson. I know theres no Winning in this ****ing corrupt system. But Let us have our dignity, we're no low life bum, we're educated people, I can take his job if i wanted to, but i have no respect for people in uniform.

It sounds like your attitude may be the biggest cause of your problems with the cops.

There may be a million "Smiths or whatever" in Toronto, but each one has a unique driver's license number. If your friend produced a driver's license, and that driver's license number comes back as being suspended, no cop is going to kick you loose and let you drive away. And no cop is going to believe you when you offer up whatever excuse to explain why your license is not suspended.

The computer rules. If there is a problem with the information the computer spits out, it's up to your friend to correct it.

But the cop did what society expects him to do when he comes across a suspended driver, as indicated by his in-car computer check. You whining about it and making unfounded and irrelevant allegations of corruption changes nothing.

hey i totally agree with you, take it to court or at least make it public you know? write letters and sh_t to the paper and then heads will start turning. police dont want stuff like that to get out. maybe some lawywer will even want to take your case for a reduced rate (publicity for him).
what the other guy said about the computer mis-information stuff could be true tho b/c ive been pulled over b/c supposedly my licence plate information said the car had no owner but i presented him with owner ship. insurance and all that crap and he let it go. if your friend showed him the legit papers and buddy was still being an *** thats a violation of rights. i know that when your arrested the cop has to tell you why he is arresting you and why (charter of rights) however im not sure that applies to having your licence suspended but im sure it does
anyways, all the best to you man. fight it and hope you bring the pig down.

JusBlaze Said it, a lot of you are finally learning...lol

If you file a complaint, that complaint gets known and each cop in that division, will be watchin out for you.

Your gonna end up causing more problems....

Your gonna spend money on a lawyer?....you can handle most things on your own....your just throwing your money away....Call your local Courthouse Criminal Division, or Prosecutions office Find out how or why his license is suspended....

If there's a valid excuse....suck it up...cop was right SURPRISE!

if there isn't a valid excuse and the computer is wrong....
u could most likely ammend w/e is wrong via many visits to a court office.

Relax yourself and think smart....Motti said it as well it's not the officers fault that he saw on the computer that the license is suspended for whatever reason.

Sometimes people even your own friends hold back information for whatever reason. It's happened to me once, in a far worse situation. . . .

Someone can have a driver's license in hand, but that does not necessarily mean it is valid. Your license can be suspended for all sorts of reasons, even without you knowing it.

You may have unpaid fines.
Your check to pay for a renewal may have bounced.
You may have arrears in child support payments.
An optometrist may have reported your name (as required by law) to the Ministry if your vision deteriorated past acceptable minimums.
A doctor may have reported your name (as required by law) to the Ministry if you developed a medical condition that makes you unsafe to drive, particularly conditions that can bring on problems with motor control, seizures, delerium, and unconciousness without warning.

You can even have your license suspended before you ever get one, for any of the above reasons and more.

Merely being able to produce a driver's license (or insurance card or registration) at a traffic stop doesn't mean that the document is actually valid for use or is not under suspension.

The driver in this case may not have been formally notified of suspension yet. If so, all this cop did was serve formal notification of suspension on the driver, which is fairly common practice.

Now, if your friend gets pulled over again, your friend, having now been formally notified of driver's license suspension, will be facing much bigger problems.

I understand the the loop holes in the system. My friend was totally innocent, hes a new driver, he just spent big bucks buying a car, insuring it himself, and doing all the ministry paper work. Thats a lot of time and money for an 18 year old whos trying to get by. I understand that cops could pretty much do whatever they want. I was in the back seat, the cop was a total dick. What he did was wrong and he even knew it, when we got my parents to pick us up, he wouldn't even speak to them. MY attitude wasn't the problem actually, I kept my composer, cause i know how cops operate, you start challenging them and they becoming bigger dicks than they already are. Im a young educated guy, and the way hr treated us because we were young, asian, and in a nice car was plain out wrong. This can happen to any young kid driving along, and its not right. The ****er made him cry, And thats ****ing wrong DOES SOCIETY EXPECT THAT FROM THE POLICE MR. MOtti

I don't care what happens, Im gonna fight this all the way. I'll let you know, maybe you might even see me on silverman helps or W-Five. Im gonna expose these ****ers for the low life corrupt son of a bitches that they are.

Y'all don't have to agree with me, but if you were inside the car, your blood would be boiling like mine.

Thanks for all the comments and suggesting to everyone

correct me if I'm wrong, but temp plates have the same status as regular plates, so to say he's driving "without" plates is a complete overexaggeration. it should NOT be cause enough to get pulled over for driving with temp plates, considering they are the gov'ts way to make sure cars are driven with insurance to get saftied and e-tested after a sale.

besides that, all the officer needed to do was look at the date of issue on the license and the whole misuderstanding could have been avoided. and why was is suspended under 'medical' ????

I guess your attitude WAS the problem cuz... well... it seems like the cop was just out to hassle you. I try to be as nice as I can cuz I know they're just doing a job. There is no sense in mouthing off really... at least not until he hands you a ticket, cuz by then you know exactly where he stands and where you stand. Plus it allows you to vent a lil frustration too
