A no insurance fine is about $5000. Also now your insurance will be about x 10. I highly doubt any insurance company will push back the date. IE. FRAUD!!
You decided to lie to the MTO and the police. You risked driving w/o insurance and now you have to take your licks.
Maybe you stick to bus/subway for the next few years.

yeah, there is nothing you can legally do. anyone helping you by putting a diff't effective date or anything like that would be guilty of fraud as well.
time to bend over and take it IDB

Also I just happen to be looking through my insurance papers (I come up for renewal next month) From the back of my sheet of what could apply to you. ( i didn't feel like typing it all out)
"It is an offence under the federal Criminal Code for anyone to knowingly make or use a false document with the intent it be acted on as genuine and the offence is punishable, on conviction, by a maximum of 10 years imprisonment."
Also just to let you know your friend is mostly ****ed also with his insurance company. Now are you paying out of pocket to get the other guy vehicle fixed? If you are you should write a document and get him to sign it saying he can't come back later and sue for pain, loss wages, etc.,
Now if the other person is going through the insurance company. Well .. umm I heard MEXICO is good this time of the year. :P I bet other insurance company will come after you for the $$ to fix his car, and any other claims which could be well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Now you couldn't afford the $300 or even $600/m for insurance?

very possible, as part of most people's policies you get coverage for a replacement vehicle...
which means when you get a new car your insurance covers both it and your other car for like 30 days or something... to allow you to sell your old car...
it happened to me when i got my new car, i got it about a week or two before i sold the other one and needed to drive it around to get safety's etc... and when i called up the ins. co. they said that even tho i was getting a new car they would both be covered for 30 days... no questions asked...
i'm guessing if it was a private sale, he could've jsut signed the papers and walked away with the keys after paying...
regardless it was a dumb move not finding out what your insurance situation was before, that could've really ruined your life man... imaging getting sued for 1mill and not having any coverage... you'd be working for life just to pay that ish off...
