Got another ticket....

In Wasaga I got a ticket for no front plate. But I just got my car painted and had no time to put it on but I had it on my dash.

I know its dumb but whatever, it happened.....

Its $110 but the cop made a error on my ticket with my drivers license #, what can be done about this ? I told the cop I just got my car painted and he said he can tell but then he asked if I had paper proof I said not on me, he said bring it to court with the date the car was painted and show them and it should be thrown out....

What about the error though ?

i don't think that error will hold up
the cop told you to take it to court, so just do that it will probably get thrown out.

i got a question though, how do you not have time to put on a lisence plate? it takes like 10 seconds.

btw, wrong forum

I was in a huge rush on friday and I was going to put it on but I ran into some troubles with my actual car and totally forgot about it. On the highway my passenger noticed it sitting on the floor and I said **** and put it on the dash.

btw, its license, not lisence

Take it to court with your receipt or something close from the shop..

You should be fine unless you got a pissy judge..

Yeah, and then when u get pulled over just freak out and say " **** MY PLATE FELL OFF?!?!?" Apologize to the cop and say you will go get new plates asap and that you had no clue it was gone..

my excuse was that my mom backed into my car and the plate fell off...then I show the cop the bent up plate and show him the broken plastic screws in the bumper, works everytime not to mention they usually dont pull you over cuz they think ur from the states or something...but the second it goes on the dash they think ur tryin to be sneaky about it

u might be able to get it thrown out but as far as i know the only errors on tickets that matter are mispelled names

I usually never leave it on the dash, the only reason I did that was because I had a feeling I would get pulled over and I did. Especially in Wasaga on May 24.

that doesn't always work

my buddy went off roading and his plate fell off of his jeep tj.
the next day we went out to pick up his other car and get a new plate and we were pulled over. cop asks why he has no front plate, my buddy plays dumb saying that he didn't know, even though he knew it fell off the previous day. he was polite to the cop, and said he would go get one right now (which he was planning to do anyways), but the cop still gave him a ticket.

This is what i did when i got that ticket for plate in the dash. I booked a first attendance(a meeting with the JP) and she said did you put your plate back on, i said yes, she said ticket dropped.

Just do that.

I was totally amazed but she was really cool about it.

If you live in Ontario, you need both front and back plates.
If you want to be special, do it without breaking the law.
Good luck in court.
