I suggest making an appointment with a prosecutor and asking for the ticket to be reduced.

Unless of course you want to try your chances fighting it.

I have had this problem before. I took it to traffic ticket defence
in Mississauga. It cost me about the same amount as the ticket but I rather pay this guy instead of the ticket and rate increase on my insurance.

What he did if he did not win was appeal and he kept on appealing until the courts drop it.

Money well spent. Look into this. It might work for you.

I know a friend who went to Xcopper...it cost him $300.
His ticket was for $350 and 6 points.
He ended up only with 2 points (instead of 6) and paid $100 more so he paid $$400 total to save $50.

I am not sure if the saving of 4 points saves you in insurance but i presume it does.

demerit points dont show on your ticket and in the eyes of insurance companies there are two types of tickets :minor and major

I think I'm going to try to go to one of those Xcopper places, but I got the ticket in Guelph does that mean it needs to be a local place?

Well from what I have heard if the cop wasn't using a radar gun, then there is no proof you were going as fast as you were. I would suggest going to a place like Xcopper, it'll be worth the money expecially if he can get your demerit points dropped. Even if you have to pay as much as the ticket

It doesn't matter, they don't have to use radar to give you a speeding ticket. They can also pace you to get your speed.

speaking from my personal experiance... from an insurance stand point it doesn't matter how many points you have... they will still jack your rates.... cause in 3 years i have had 3 tickets all for $40 no points on any... they see a ticket for 10 over the same as a ticket for 49 over these days....

It's still best to keep your record clean, keeps premiums lowest as possible and avoid hassle in future. I would get it cleared by a lawyer. Drive like a grandma... =)

SO i went to POINTTS, the guy said insurance cares about where its a minor or a major offence. Mine's a major, but he said he could get it down to a minor and all will be ok, my insurance won't go up according to him.

You might want to research that a bit more... he's up for 4 points right now.

3 pts - 16 to 29 km over
4 pts - 30 to 49 km over
6 pts - 50km+ over
