GF got into accident, next step?
K my GF got into an accident with her car.. hit a crv, her fault basically. front end damage to her's and what seemed like nothing more than scratches to his.
She only has liability insurance, so I've already put her car to get fixed, $300 worth of damage.. Front Spindle w/bearing and shock is bent. Upper and lower arms seem fine.
The other guy, who apparently works for toronto 1 tv station seemed like a good guy. My gf told him that she'd prefer to have the repairs made outside of insurance.. He said ok, he'd fined out the costs and let her know.
Now my questions is this.. If she reports the accident to the accident centre, would insurance become aware of it?? How long after an accident has occured must you report it??
Thanks.

Most insurance companies in the GTA subscribe to the accident reporting center service, which automatically sends out reports to the company weather a claim has been reported or not, so if you can stop him from making a report, that would be advised ...... If he does, he will have to put your g/f's insurance company and policy number, and then they will get the report, set up a claim and call her.... so she will have an at fault loss on her record with out making a claim

K, yeah i figured that.. The guy seemed knowledgable on the proceeding, so hopefully he doesn't go and do that.. he said himself, he'd find out the cost and let her know and then she could decide if she wants to claim it or just pay it...
Thanks.
Thanks.

i think it's a better idea to report it to the collission center cause he could be doing it without telling you and he could report it as a hit and run or something. next thing you know your insurance company will know about it and you'll be in a big surprise!
you should always report an accident at fault or not at fault, just to protect yourself. going through your insurace company is another thing. it's up to you if you want to go through insurance or not. even if your insurance company knows about the accident but if your not making a claim through them it will not affect your rating....remember, it's only if you make a claim then your rating will be affected!
he will not be reporting to his insurance company cause he's getting it fixed paid by you already.....and why would he? if he does he risks having his premiums go up even if it's not his fault. or he could report it as something else against you or make your insurance pay for something that's damaged that did not occur from the accident. make sure you have a copy of the bill if your paying for the repair, as a record. so make sure you report to the collision center asap. hope this helps.

I called the collision centre.
The law states that if the damage is below $1000, you don't not have to report it and it's totally up to you if u wish to claim it through insurance or settle outside of insurance.
we settled, he's just waiting for cheque to clear and it's done.
Thanks all.
