when i was 19 and had my G license, i got a speeling ticket which the prosecutor reduced to no points and a 50 dollar file. that made my insurance go up slightly

One ticket should have zero effect unless it is a major one like impaired or speeding in excess of 50 km over the limit. Many insurance companies will even let you have two tickets "free" before they start applying surcharges.

Insurance premiums may go up (or down) from year to year for other reasons completely independent of your driving record or experience.

like i told u on the phone, just buy urself some time...call in and say u want a meeting with the prosectutor....that takes like 4 months....then from there say their reduced fine is gay and say u wanna go to court (that is unless they offer u something good)...then court takes another 4 months or so....then when u go to court its almost a year later and u drove for a year without any insurance raises regardless of getting the ticket or not...now just pray u win in court...thats where i am at at 10:30 tomorrow morning...lol

you can go see the JP...then if you dont like what they offer you then you can book a trial date...
then if the cop doesnt show up then you can basically say anything you want because there is no one to prove you wrong...
plus in doing all of this you have delayed the ticket, leaving possibly only 2 or even 1 year/s left for the ticket to be on your record...
when you go to court you can talk to the duty counsel before court is in session and make a deal with them aswell (then they will offer this to the crown, who usually accepts it, as long as it is reasonable)

reasonable = reducing the speed by a bracket
i.e . 16-29 down to a 15, 30 - 49? down to a 29, etc

If the cop doesn't show, they just dismiss the case, you don't have to say anything.

More than likely they will give you an offer before it hits court to reduce it to something else. You will want to deal for a fine with no points, that would be the best deal. Hopefully the fact he told you to go fight it will work in your favor. I had one and the cop actually wrote I was slowing down on the ticket report and they reduced mine to a 50 dollar fine with no points.

check your facts... they drop them all the time.
I sat in a court for a few hours watching all the traffic violations and such, waiting for my turn to go up. I was a witness.
And people were getting speeding tickets dropped, left right and center.

Go to court and fight it, they will reduce it more than likely just for you going, just be polite apologize, say you didnt realize and make some bull sh*t story up!

Good Luck!

tell them that you will pay the ticket but u cant afford the points
they will give u like 30 days to pay

That is totally false. Where are you getting your information from? Have you had first hand experience in this? I have, and the case was dismissed, and this was on a continuance as well.

Yoo my first ticket was painful!... okay it is nowhere close to as painful as Type_R Del Sol's up there.. doing 122 in a 60 zone.. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!.. anyway back when I was 16... I think a month or two in to me getting my G2.. I think it was like in august.. I was still driving my red mercury cougar back then! anyway.. I was going to shannonville that morning.. first time.. al excited.. and while speeding past a bridge.. apparently a cop radared me going 142km on a 100km highway zone... I got stopped by some cop off of motorcycle.. and when I got to shannonville.. it was $100.00 to get my car on the track.. not to mention all that GAS I had to pay driving back n forth from shannonville to markham.. and only to realize later on .. my speeding ticket was $314.00 fine..

I don't think I'll be speeding while GOING to the racetrack no more.. I guess I'll save the speeding for the track...

My first ticket back in 1996 was a careless driving driving charge.

I hired a traffic lawyer (a friend of mine) to help out. When we went to court the cop (OPP) didn't show up, but someone else did in his place.

I ended up getting my Careless driving reduce to unsafe move no pts and no fine.
