Fighting a Ticket?

I've read through posts here from the last 6 months and I can't find the answer to the following.

I got a ticket 70 in a 50, the officer told me to fight it and they will drop the points and lower the charge.

On the back of the ticket under option 3 they give you a phone number to call and make an appointment to meet with a prosecutor, is this what I do? I've never fought a ticket before, I'm not looking to have it cleared just lowered so I assume that I plea not guilty and they will try to bargain with me before going to court?

Thanks.

Normally, you have to show up in person to make an appointment, give the number a call and see what they say. They will probably reduce it with no points and all you have to do is tell the judge that you plead guilty to the lesser charge
