fighting laser radar speeding ticket
I got ticketed for doing 84 in a 50 zone with a laser radar . I went to court already and called for an ajurn or something where they chagne ur date i said i neded to seek professional help before fighting my case. The lady said she can make my charge 19 km/h over instead of 34 km/hr and drop the 4 deremerit points to 3. i said nah i want to drop it to 0 points. Anyone know any links to websites that show flaws in laser radar? there was a lot of cars around me and it was kinda downhill as well. plus they did it from the other side of the road. Anyone got tips to what to say in court to fight the ticket?

radar detectors cant detect you if ur further than 100 meters.. thats the length i know it is at.. if u had a radar detector in ur car.. it is illegal. for what i know.. and if there where more than one car beside you u can fight it.. and say somone else was going faster than you.. .and u got pulled over because u have a nice car lol.. dunno.
i cant remember the site but there is one.. check in google..

The laser units are aimed by hand with a scope and mounted on a tripod or just handheld. Some of them even look like a small rifle with a folding stock. From what I've been told by an OPP friend, they are really only affected by weather. Meaning they don't work very well in foggy or rainy conditions. Unless you could find fault in the way the unit was being operated, it's your word against the officers. The LIDAR units are much more accurate and reliably the the radar and that's why they are used now

Request from the crown all the information that was taken from giving you the ticket as well as the Officer's license to use the laser gun. Any officer using the gun is suppose to be licensed to use it. You may not get the info in time for your court case, but try anyways.

I got nailed by a laser once too, your screwed, they are accurate and no lawyer can find a flaw in them. I know this because I had to fight mine because it was a pretty big ticket. I used POINTTS and he got me off the demerit points and got the ticket reduced considerably. He couldn't fight the accuracy of the laser, he said if a laser gets you, it gets you. So not too sure how I got the ticket reduced if he wasn't challenging the speed, guess money talks. His services cost me ~$450, in my case it was worth it. Hope this helps.

Maybe this is too late for your trial but I just want to clarify something. Police are not required to be licenced to operate radar or laser. They must be qualified, not licenced. Just did not want you to appear in court and expect the officer to produce a licence that dosnt exist. In fact the officer might not even have any documentation to prove he is qualified. The court will be satisfied that an officer is qualified just by them giving evidence that they are.

That's interesting, mind me asking where you got your information?

It's all a load of ****.
If a cop has you on radar your speed is what it says.
The only thing you can fight in court is to prove that you the one they radared and that he didn't mistake you for someone else.
