I WILL FIGHT FOR MY RIGHTS

Muffler - You’re allowed to change the muffler so long as it is in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise. Again, refer to the Intake section of this document on legal issues on the replacement of vehicle system or devices - you are allowed to change/replace your muffler. Also note, that the sound allowed to be emitted from your vehicle is 83 dBA as stated by Transport Canada in the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. The following is from the Highway Traffic Act. Since when is replacing your exhaust with an aftermarket one illegal? Even HONDA sells intakes and exhausts to their customers!

MUFFLER

75. (1) Every motor vehicle or motor assisted bicycle shall be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and excessive smoke, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, straight exhaust, gutted muffler, hollywood muffler, by-pass or similar device upon a motor vehicle or motor assisted bicycle.

But that's the thing.....they don't state if the car has to have that level of sound at idle......40KM ......60KM .....ect .....and where the sound is alowed NOT to come from ......ie ...muffler .....engine...... ect.....

Again......it's up to the cop to deceid The cop doesn't care if you're right, he's not the one getting the ticket....you are.. It's a "grey area".

i would say try to find the cop if she is a girl sleep with ehr..if that don't work then i say tick option 3 and act dum in fron tof the judge..my dad bought this car for me..anddo not say stuff like come outside and hear my muffler coz she will be liek yeah wait for me after my shift..and you will lsoe the case as well as your time..

just say you know what i had this car for a long time and there was another cop that pulled me before to do a check and he didn't stop me for my exhaust but he stopped me for finding out if i was drunk...

always use the term ma'am or sir if your not comfortable of saying your honour...

don't be like yo i din't know man..thats disrespect..it took them lot of work to reach that position and they want to get the respect they earned..

so be as polite but turn the truth around to soft heart them..

always look at them straight up use very little body moments.. do not point or spit...try to make yoru self inferior to the judge...like i didn't know...

i wil pull it out next week if thats what you would want and you will be FREE!!!!

trust me

i have been to court

many times
but i stopped couting after the first time

later

This is where you guys don't understand...

your car even @ WOT doesn't even make 83 dBa. Think about how loud 83 is! Trucks revving close to redline aren't even 83 dBa! Let alone a muffler with the resonator still on.

Rock concerts are 110 dBa.. maybe somebody can confirm that. If I was to go from 40 to 50 dBa.. it doesn't mean my sound is 20% louder... Sound volume DOUBLES every 10 dBa increase...

So... I HIGHLY doubt the ticket was for excessive noise coming from the muffler.

Maybe it was cuz the muffler was mounted on an angle? Maybe it's an improper muffler? <--- but who's the judge of that?!
