Do i fight this ticket???

I got a speeding ticket the other day. and i really can't afford to pay it.

I was speeding, obviously, but the cop knocked it down for me already so it wouldn't be so expensive. Do i push my luck and try and fight it, just to see if he shows up?

If he does show up, then what do i say... 'uhhh... nevermind i guess i'll pay it...'

suggestions?
thanx

It does hurt to fight it, if you can' tafford to pay for it. Mind you it depends how fast you were going.

Toyo, perhaps you can tell us how many kms over the limit you originally were going and what kind of a reduction did the PC give you? I would suggest that you should always obtain legal representation when challenging a certificate of offence as this process is not as "cut-and-dry" as most people think it is (i.e. alot of rumours floating around). BTW, prosecution is legally entitled to ask the JP to amend the certificate to the original speed if he/she wants to ... trust me on this

hmmm. well the original speed was 118 in an 80.
mind you I live in the country so it's a little more obvious if you're speeding out here cuz there's less cars.

the original amnt was just under $300! but he dropped it down so it's like 135$
I'm thinkin i should just pay the man and not push my luck...

Toyo, while the final decision is yours ... I would suggest you seek some legal advice. What you spend for representation is nothing compared to what your insurance will do to your rates when renewal time comes along. Just my .02

Try setting it for trial, and even if you plea guity the JP may still reduce the fine if you tell him that you can not afford it.

That is assuming that the fine is the only concern here ... I would think that the actual conviction would be far worse on a driving record and/or insurance in the long run.
